Do Marcell Dareus=Buckner=Kemo=Hollis Thomas?

I know Dareus is more versatile than these guys, but I'm sure he'll be playing that same space eatting, taking on double team type roll. My question is, how much value do you put on these type of guys in terms of draft position? Again I know he's more versatile than these guys, but I still only see him playing on 1st & 2nd downs. Your thoughts? Oh, and for those of you that don't want to chime in, we can easily go back to talking about Cam.

Eh, I think Dareus can be more than those examples. But if all he does is clog up the middle and not get pushed back, that's what a DT is supposed to do. And if he's good at that, he's worth it.

i think if you only see him playing on first and second downs, then you really don't know how versatile dareus is.

indeed... guy would be pushing 375-400 and could almost take the hand off from the QB on running plays... AND he was strong as any DT in the game... mauling OL with ease or just tossing them aside.

It's a shame his ligaments couldnt hold up... he had amazing talent.

that really isn't that hard to find....Thomas wasn't that good in Carolina. Neither was Kemo.

Carolina if they wanted to do anything but force Fox's hand to play certain guys could have brought in bodies last year.

A great, efficient and consistent DT is as valuable as any other position on the field, with the exception of a QB, who is also great, efficient and consistent.

Dareus is an every down player. He can stuff the run, and disrupt the passing game. I hope we draft him, because Breese, Ryan, and Freeman will be having fits. Not to mention that the games will rely fully on their QB's because Dareus would take away the run and help free up Beason&Davis.

That is my estimate as well, although I am warming up to Cam. We cant predict the future, just use our gut instincts. Two weeks ago I would have been 100% behind that.
