I don't think so. Because in saying, "I could careless" makes it hypothetical and not so much a contradiction. It's like doing something you don't want to do, but have to anyway.

Doesn't matter what you think, it's still wrong.

A. It's "care less", not careless

B, Hypothetical or not, the saying is self defeating if you say you could care less. It's meant to imply that you do not vsre, not that you care some. Leaving a quantifiable amount of care in such a phrase or cliche makes absolutely no sense.
