Sal pal In Charlotte NC on the Panthers and Cam Newton

Well lets see, no personal red flags. No cheating in school, no about to get kicked out of OU before he ran off to a JUCO school. No thefts, no one hit wonder, reads defenses great coming out of school, no footwork issues, can break down complicated plays and defenses right out of college...

I can go on but I know it won't do any good.

So all of those things prove he had the desire to be great, or just that he kept his nose clean and was good in college?

I dont have enough posts to start my own thread so it will go in this one.

Today i went to lunch with a coworker and we see Jerry Richardson. I work for a spanish radio network that broadcasts the games and introduced myself. I called him by his first name only to realize everybody else was Mr Richardson this Mr Richardson that. Well we shake hands then start to eat and in walks Sal Pal and starts eating with Jerry and some other guys.

After i finish eating i see Jerry walking to me and asks to sit with my coworker and i. We talk for 20 min about the hispanic community in charlotte, the draft and the cba.

1. He mentioned to us that hes so worried about the CBA and the future of the NFL that he forgot the draft was tomorrow.

2. He feels like the league will go down if there is no draft and players can choose where they go. I mentioned the Yankees and he sad yes players would go to the higher bidder and the small market teams like charlotte would suffer greatly.

3. He also mentioned the players being against a once a yr needle test for the human growth steroid

4. Once the CBA is fixed we will be in a better position than any other team bc the panthers planned for this and will be able to resign many players as well as be active in free agency

5. He has a preference for the #1 pick and chuckled when i said im not going to ask but i want to know. Have a feeling we will pick his guy

6. After we finished talking with Jerry Sal Pal stood up and started talking to us trying to figure out who we were.

Overall, my coworker a dolphin fan, has a new respect for jerry and im excited about the future of the franchise if the cba is resolved. We will be so far under the cap that we will be able to have a turn around in about 2 yrs.

I know i know cool story bro!

Great to hear this. This confirms what a handful of folks in this forum have been saying - JR is not a tight azz, he is a smart business man and respected owner.

take it easy. 50 million is a lot of money and the question is valid. Also what he did in college NO LONGER MATTERS once he walks that stage.

Settle down bro. Nobody is attacking him. Damn

It's fair to ask the question, but I'm not sure what has lead folks to draw the conclusion that he doesn't want to be great?

Well he didnt really give any kind of hint as to who they wanted. It sounded to me that he has his preference and made it known and now he is focused on the CBA.

I have a smooth stalker pic just in case somebody didnt believe me but I dont know how to attach a pic to this forum.

Per Sal, the Panthers are down to four choices for the first pick:

Newton

Peterson

Dareus

Green

if newton has made it this far w/o being crossed off the list i don't know why he wouldn't be the pick...biggest upside of the 4 and fills our biggest need

I don't think anyone has come to that conclusion. Sal Pal said Hurney was convinced he was hungry enough. If someone has come to a different conclusion than that I have not heard about it.
