so none of you pro newton idiots talk to me about it. every time you open your mouths about him It makes me hate him all over again. so please, just shut the hell up while I try and look at the bright side of the possibility of us taking newton #1 overall.

irony of ironies being that i created a thread about newton to make sure people wouldn't talk to me about newton... i know... this is more in jest of the stupid newton lovers though. let's see who tries to make fun of me for this without reading my hidden message.

I went through this same process last year with Clausen. It gets easier but the doubt will always be there lolz.

Difference here is this is a #1 overall pick and not a mid second rounder. The consequences of missing on this pick will hurt a lot more than the Clausen pick :(

The bright side to Cam is he will be more of a weapon to use on Madden then Jimmy Clausen.

Actually I was able to use Jimmy pretty good in Madden because his short passing accuracy was pretty good. I just couldn't do play action or throw it deep with him.

Most Newton nut hangers want Newton for 3 basic reason. 1) He was great in college 2) They really want QB #1 overall, don't really care who 3) They go with majority

Fact: Newton is terrible at reading defenses. He will not run away from anyone. You know who is terrible at reading defenses and cannot run away from anyone? Jimmy Clausen! Hurney drafted more than 20 QBs sense he took Panthers GM job... Not a single QB he drafted was any good. People "Hope" Newton will be a beast, reality points in different direction.

    • I agree, but I've already said that the players will definitely take more money up front because it's more security. But they want more guaranteed money and NFL FOs don't want to do that for several and various reasons, and that's what's at issue.  https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/nfl-second-round-rookies-finally-starting-to-sign-what-took-so-long-and-what-it-means-for-future-contracts/ It's a tug of war between teams and players, and, sure, paying a player a signing bonus may satisfy them, especially if--and sometimes "only if"--it ultimately leads to a guarantee of more of their contract, but the teams are on the hook for all of those guarantees when cap time comes, so if they guarantee more money, they're ultimately losing the contract game.
    • TBH, these are the kind of players that get weeded out of professional sports pretty quickly. Also, CMC is not that guy. There is zero indication that he isn't competitive.
    • I like the free agency. It actually helps basically all schools across the board. Pretty much only ancient HC's and/or HC's that haven't been able to adjust have been complaining about the free agency. Your fortunes can be made or broken every offseason. It's not like before where a bad recruiting class or two meant multiyear purgatory.  I will never understand all the bellyaching about the NIL. If you want to talk about what ruined college athletics, it has been naked greed. Conference expansions for TV revenue, ever skyrocketing AD and facilities costs and now the attempts to permanently ruin the postseasons(football and basketball).  All the kids did was get a very well deserved piece of a very, very, VERY broken pie.
