Colin Cowherd destroying CAR franchise on ESPN radio this AM

I like Colin but he is a big time Pats fan and praises Tom Brady all the time. If I had Tom Brady and Belichick I would bash other teams as well. I am not wild about the Cam pick and I agree with his rationale, but the small market shot I don't buy. I think many equate small market with age of ownership. Two different animals. Green Bay is in a small market but they have been around forever so they have a huge following. Houston is in a huge market but they don't have a great following because they are a new franchise.

You dont draft someone with the #1 pick to sit him on the bench....come on.

It happens with #1 QBs sometimes especially if you have a veteran option

We may have to at least for a while because of the transition from his college style as well as lack of preparation due to the lockout. He may simply not be ready.

I sure hope we have some sort of veteran on the roster in August

I live and work in NYC. Over the past year I have been ridiculed for being a Panthers fan. But the most trash talked to me has been this week, everyone here laughing at the Panthers taking Cam, like he is a joke. I hope they're wrong.

Not that I really expect this, but.....it would be funny as hell if Cam DID start opening day and OWNS the opposing team. Then we rip off about three straight wins.....wonder what old Colin Cowherd would be saying then. I know it's not likely to happen, but I for one would chuckle out loud!!!!!!!

I don't listen to the Herd, cause I think he's an opinionated asshole who gets it wrong alot.

But does he really say that about Rogers? Seriously? Rogers is a beast. What a fugtard.

He did say that....now that A Rog has a ring he is the greatest QB around. He refused to put him in a category of top Qbs bc he said that Rogers never won a big game....

For Me, If Cam Newton gets to a Mcnabb, McNair, Hasslebeck, Bulger type career...with competitive teams with just misses and no Super Bowl...its better than Pickles... I just want to be excited to see some ability and playmaking on Sundays...Fox & co. being gone should fix that part.

Seriously and off topic a bit, 19 out of 20 Qbs in this golden age are never going to come close to meeting unrealistic fan/media expectations bc of the "Brady Factor"

Its like people who diss Kobe Bryant bc he only has 5 rings not Jordans 6..as if 1 Ring is still a failure.

Peyton Manning gets grilled for taking mediocre overall teams to the AFC Championship games as Elway did earlier in his career.

I fume when people consider Manning a loser, choke artist in the unrealistic comparison to 3 time winner Brady. Brady's accolades are all deserved but its a total team effort with the Belechick factor(no film!)

After watching the "Three For the Show" special on ESPN which followed Cam i can't stand the kid.

Most arrogant and self absorbed individual I have seen who is in his position.

Came across as a complete dumb@ss too.

Panthers are idiots if they take him and It will be tough to pull for the team in my homestate for knowingly setting themselves back a decade.

I believe I see his point on Cam getting destroyed here.

Cam flat out needs to sit for several seasons to learn to play QB at this level. On a team like Carolina he will not have that luxury.

Cam would be MUCH better off going somehwere and sit behind a seasoned vet.

+1

I agree with you completely. He needs more time to sit and learn from a veteran QB, he will not have that chance here. He will be thrown to the wolves and picked apart like Clausen did last year.

If anything Clausen learned a lot from last year, and he would be more capable to run the offense than Cam would be in his first year.

Unless we just design a lot of running plays for Cam, but if that's the case he wouldn't make it half way through the year before he is injured for the season. You just can't run in the NFL like he did in college, he will get crushed.

Cowherd is cool and correct.

Newton will get his butt kicked playing behind our OL

The LBs will flow over him like a 10 foot wave at the beach.

He will not be what you expect him to be, he will disappoint.

To start him and throw him to the wolves will be just like Claussen.

A year from now you'll wish we never took him.

Cowherd's logic is flawed.....like always.

Yesterday he said he would put his paycheck on Newton being a bust for the following reasons.

Drafted by a team with a new coach

Drafted by a team with a defensive head coach

Drafted by a team w/ a weak WR corp

Drafted by a team in a tough division

That was it.

Well, if that is his sure fire way to tell you a QB will be a bust.....then his logic means he would have thought....

Matt Ryan, Mark Sanchez, Josh Freeman, etc. (ALL 4 points appled to them when drafted) would have all been busts....and those were guys he praised as recent success.

Anybody we draft can bust. He just dont like he guy just like all the other analyst. When analyst talk about Newton they swear he will be a jamarcus Russell type. And be the biggest bust in the league.
