Taken a Defensive Player helps the Offense How?

Dont get me wrong Defense wins games Offense when Championships in the NFL now. Im a defensive player I played DE and DT my whole life. From highschool to now College. In highschool we had one of the top 3 rated defense in our Divsion but we only won 4 games that season. why because our offense couldnt score anything.

I like marcell dareus i like patrick peterson but how in the world they are going to help our offense put numbers up on the board. They may stop the offense on a couple of drives but eventually they are going to score and if we cant score how are we going to win.

If we dont take Neton we got to take Green. Beause our offense was dead last in every offensive stat known to man in the NFL. And playing in a tough division that we play in. The offense are way to explosive for us to just stop every time they get the ball. We got to be able to put up points on the board.

Despite what analyst say they know in this league if you dont have a QB you wont be a succesful team and you cant compete year in and year out. As for AJ green he is a prayer he could really help this team out he would probably make clausen look decent.I hope.

We got to try our luck on Cam newton. We are in position to make the pick. We got to have faith in the guy. And if the FO and the coaches have faith in him. Us as fans should have faith in him. Even if you dont like him. We just got to hope he be and great player. And bring some wins to the team.

well, I enjoy the argument... I dont think Cam Newton helps us win games tomorrow either... neither does AJ Green, so what you do is draft the player that makes the MOST impact on the field... thats Dareus. Hes not relying on anyone to throw him the ball, all he has to do is like up and hold his gap.

I completely disagree.

Don't get me wrong, I respect your comparisons, but the NFL and high school are two different monsters.

Atlanta had one of the better offenses in the NFL last season, but what happened to them in the playoffs? Green Bay shredded their secondary. The lack of pass rush from Atlanta, coupled with the fact that Atlanta's third and fourth cornerbacks are garbage, ended up costing them the game.

Green Bay is the example of the team of the future. I think they have all of the correct components. A very, very good QB, good young receivers with a mix of veterans, and a very solid defensive group. It also helps that they have an awesome coaching staff, especially on the defensive side of the ball.

So, it's not that offense or defense wins championships now, it's going to take both.

the question isn't whether or not we need a quarterback to improve the offense; that's an undeniable fact. the debate remains whether or not cam newton can be that guy. if the FO thinks he isn't, than dareus makes perfect sense given our position in the draft (so long as we explore other options via trade and FA at the QB position.)

thats all there is to it.

a strong defense will give the offense more opportunities and will also take the pressure off the offense in having to score a million TDs to stay in and win the game.

that said, i don't see the addition of dareus being something that will help all that much in accomplishing that. fairley...maybe just because of his outright domination and disruption of the opposing offense...but not dareus.

the overall defense needs to be stepped up from last year and the offense needs to be able to stay on the field the give the defense a chance to rest. i think we'll have both of those things happening just by having a healthier team as well as the massive upgrade in coaching. having a QB like newton being able to keep drives alive will help as well.

we do need help at DT, but the help we need can come from later rounds in the draft or (preferably) from FA. only DTs who should be picked in the top 5 picks ever are big time disrupters. i just don't see that being dareus.

But Atlanta manage to put up twenty some points on the board. Defense is something you can always improve on not saying you cant on offense either. But On offense you got to have the key pieces you got to have a decent at least QB and you got to have some type of run game if you dont you want make the playoffs. And I really want comapring my highschool team with the NFL but they both have the same concepts. If you stop the other team you give your offense a chance to score but if they cant score you are going to get your defense gased. Dont that reminds you of a certain team.

This draft should be with trying to build a winner 2-4 seasons down the road.

The justification for Defense is that Cam Newton is too risky, so shore up Defensive for next 5-10 yrs and focus on Offense via Free Agency at first and then next years draft.

Which will have 3 franchise QB's, all of which project better on paper than Cam Newton does.

Though I think you could make a case for AJ Green at #1 and then DT and CB in 3rd round
