so is Richard Marshall gone...?

Don't be surprised to see Lloyd cut. If the new kickoff rules are in place, then he isn't much use.

Additionally, don't be surprised to see either Wallace Wright or AE cut.

Unfortunately, someone will always get hurt and open up a roster spot.

there's no way in hell that armanti edwards gets cut.

he'll be an RFA and it'll be up to the Panthers what tender they want to place on him.

I recall him being pissed off 2 seasons ago because we only tendered him a 2nd rounder - hell it might have only been a 3rd.

His season LY was awful compared to one before, so if he didn't get any calls then, his chances for a big paycheck are slim to none (cue Al Davis).

He is a great tackler, but nothing special in coverage. I think that's why Godfrey caught a lot of heat from the fans last year because he was always having to overcompensate for Marshall's coverage errors.

The whole team had an off year LY (obviously) so I would welcome him back but at a bargain.

Sadly, I agree. Hurney is not going to admit he really F'd up on that trade...and he is prepared to go down with the ship. David Clowney is a much better WR than Edwards and DC is ready to help contribute now. Edwards is light years away. But like I said Hurney plays favorites and will put pressure on Chico to take it easy on AE.

I expect Clowney to be one of the final cuts of the roster, go back to the Jets, and score 5 touchdowns next season while Edwards doesn't dress.

We shall see. Hurney cut Corvey Irvin and Attiyah Ellison before the start of their rookie seasons. He also cut Shelton after a few unproductive seasons.

The only reason that AE won't get cut is he either improves significantly or Hurney just wants to save face.

well of course Clowney is better than Edwards... at this point, that most obviously is going to be the case.

for the life of me I can't figure out where you all get this top secret information on year 1 and 2 rookies.. and in Edwards case, I'll reach as far as to mention year 3.

Irvin was stashed to the practice squad, not cut.

neither of those players involved a trade up either.

also not cutting AE doesn't mean hurney refuses to admit he fuged up. we don't know if he fuged up.

it's well established that Fox wanted nothing to do with AE and the coaching staff at the time really wasn't prepared to teach a guy how to play a new position. That's why getting "teachers" was such a sticking point throughout the hiring process. it's also a recurring theme from throughout fox's tenure in Carolina.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
