Smitty to Chargers rumors heating up

Recommended Posts

I say if he wants out send him to the Raiders. Just have Jerry tell Al his 40 time coming out of Utah and show him a highlight reel saying it was all from last year. We will get a couple first round picks for sure. On a serious note does smith have trade protection or can we send him where ever we want? Screw sending him where he wants to go. Trade him to the highest bidder. after all its business right?

I believe klumme's point is not that you fabricated this, but that Reed could have. There has still been nothing from Smitty to confirm any of this, just second hand rumor from second rate journalists.

Yeah, this definitely doesn't fugging exist. I made it up strictly for conjecture and entertainment purposes.

I feel Delhomme is different. Delhomme would have stuck by this franchise till the day he died and WE kicked him out. Steve wants a ring and stats and I can't fault him for that, but at the same time we gave him a chance when other teams wouldn't as a rookie and his early career, we gave him chances other teams wouldn't with some of his past transgressions and injuries. To me it looks like when he was down we stuck by our guy but when our franchise is down bad he wants to jump ship. I don't blame him he's not getting any younger but I certainly don't agree.

Smitty is the only player in the panthers history who has given 110% every play every year. I look at him as a Ray Lewis type when it comes to passion for the game. he endured high ball jake for 7 years. Remember the giants game when Jake set him up to get his arm broken? he stuck by this team, he's paid his due's. if he wants to go let him go it will definitely be a sad day in Carolina, but to say he isnt sticking by his franchise is crazy!

What I do not fully understand is the emotional attachment to Smitty. First, that is the same thing that Hurney and Fox had for Jake, signing him to a big contract when he was done. Smitty is the greatest Panther to ever wear the black and blue, but he has always been a cancer off the field. You do not know how his antics impacted the team.

I watch OTAs, and Smitty has fire and intensity in June. Kasay is the only player who voluntarily talks to him. He is a loner on the team. When you punch teammates, that is what happens.

This is a business, and Smitty's best days are behind him. Speed WRs hit the wall at his age, almost like a RB. He is earning a #1 WR salary and he is now a slot WR. THere are too many practical reasons to let him go. With Kealoha Pilares now on the roster, Smitty is gone, IMO because Smitty needs to move inside to the slot to stay effective. That would give us 3 slot WRs, and we have not given up on Armanti Edwards.

Thanks for the many memories, some great, some emabarassing. If we can get a third rounder for him, do it. Then use the $7-8 million per we save to sign a veteran #1 WR.

It's not an emotional attachment to the man himself, but an attachment to the fact that he's the best player on the team and our WR corps will be poo without him. There is nothing we can trade him for that will make the team better.

Eazy now my friend:) Where in that does Smith says he want to play for Ravens og Chargers? Just because Reed have heard something do not mean Smith have said it.

Sure he very well could have said it.. But reporting it as a fact is simply not true. Peppers also "said" he would only play for a 3-4 team and bla bla.. Steve Smith will not be a Panther next season I know that but lets wait and see were he goes and want to go until he say something himself.

Good day to you:):)

We kick em out, and then bring em back after they're too old, ala Moose. Expect to see Peppers back here in a couple of years to retire as a Panther.

I don't even want Peppers to retire a Panther. He's been a complete asshole and has shown nothing but disrespect to the Panthers since he left.

I still think he's one of the best Panthers ever, and is still probably the best DE in the league, but I don't respect him at all as a person.
