Cam Wants To Be "Nightmare"

Good for him. He seems passionate about being in Charlotte. Some players get disgruntled when they are drafted by certain teams, especially the Lions. Charlotte is a great city.

I think Cam is just what Steve Smith needs to finish strong in the final years of his career.

I read a story yesterday that had that quote in it. Cam said he wanted to be a nightmare for opposing coaches. Either way, if he can translate his bravado onto the field, he is going to be special.

I got to see Barry Sanders for 7 years. Cam has a chance to amaze for even longer, and at a position that touches the ball on every play.

Just my thoughts, and GOOOO CATS!!!!!!

Where in that comment did he compare him to Barry Sanders. He said he was Barry for 7 yrs.

He said Cam has a chance to amaze for even longer. WHICH HE DOES.

Before you criticize, how about taking a class on READING COMPREHENSION.

A comparison means comparing. There is NO REFERENCE TO COMPARISON

I didn't see stats or figures or anythings other than Newton and Sanders in the same sentence.

Really bothers me that critics like you think they can insult others because they want to.

He does say the right things and that really is the first step. One of the main tenants of positive psychology is that for something to occur you have to intend for it to happen by speaking about it creating a clear vision in your head about what you want to happen. Then most important you align your actions and behaviors to coincide with your desired outcome.

Athletes frequent use positive imagery to picture themselves doing something and practice the steps necessary for that to occur. Vasiliy Alekseyev, a great weightlifter was one of the first guys to visual himself lifting the weight as a precursor to actually doing it.

So while words are cheap, they are vitally necessary to make things happens.

For not supporting the Newton pick, everything he has said so far as either been amazing fluff, or he's out to do good things. For all of us fans, I hope its the latter... I hope he does become a nightmare for other teams. I am confident in Rivera (being D minded) that he understood that when it came time to write his name on the card. I hope it translates to the field.

Everytime someone is decent and they go to a division rival they are automatic suck. I remember a lot of folks around here wanted Duntae Robinson last year. Soon as Atlanta signed him, he turned into overpriced garbage overnight.

You can always find another team and end your nightmare.

Nah. I love my team. Even if they drafted an over hyped player like newton. Thanks for the advice but I'll choose to root for them despite the high risk they've taken on giving a guy, who's a huge question mark, a chance. Luckily Marty is always spot on with his first round draft picks. So that is a little assuring. I'm open for him to prove himself, that it wasn't a mistake for this organization to take a gamble on him. That doesn't mean o like the fact they picked the guy. I would have preferred A. J. Green or Patrick Peterson. Like they say, what is done, is done.

agreed.

i'd also say expressing those thoughts publicly is a pretty ballsy move. guaranteed people are going to b paying attention and looking to hold you accountable for what you said. you either achieve it or turn yourself into a joke. it's a lot different than keeping that stuff to yourself. if you don't reach your goals, no one is going to know but you. if you start telling people, they are going to either be watching and waiting for you to succeed or fail and most people will have their minds made up ahead of time what they think you are going to be capable of. for a guy who is already getting a ton of criticism and who already has plenty of doubters, you are really setting yourself up.

Drew Brees talks about doing this before games.. he visualizes the whole game. he visualizes different situations and how he'll react to them...

yeah, people do this all the time here.. they also think they can get every FA for vet minimum or else they are entirely too overpriced.

Thanks for the backup Dave, it is appreciated. I was just stating a hope that Cam would be able to do in the NFL what he did in college, which was dominate. It's not like the Panthers have had a long list of exciting dominate offensive players. I guess I need to be more clear next time as to not run afoul of the (il)literate police.

It is amzing that some opinions should be taken as fact, while others can be mocked. I guess if I had more swag it may make a difference, or not.

Anyway, thanks again. And GOOOO CATS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Guys, Cam has some big balls. Last year when the storm broke and reached a frenzy the entire week before the UGA game (all the ESPN Cam coverage, rulling him ineligible, and everyone tearing him apart 24/7 on every news outlet), he told the team he was going to show everyone something they have never seen before and he did. Big time. 150 yards rushing and 150 yards passing (12-14), 4 TDs, and 49 total points against UGA, the 24 point comeback in Tuscaloosa, the biggest win in SECCG history, then the NC. His pregame speech right before the UGA game started was, "I got two words for them boys, tell them we're coming". He then ran wild on UGA all day with about 50 yards rushing on the opening drive including a 31 yard td. His passing was the best of the season. He threw one incomplete pass and had one dropped. He was pissed.

Cam is NOT afraid to lead and he backs it up, or at least has his entire career so far. I wish this damn lockout would end so Cam can't start learning and practicing with the Panthers.
