Thinking of getting a tablet...weigh in please.

I really am not wanting to drop what it will cost for an ipad, but I do want something that I am not going to want to upgrade right away either.

Some advice on the different ones would be much appreciated.

What can you do with it that you can't do with other devices that you already own?

Honestly, the ipad is still easily the best thing available from what I've seen. I don't own any, but of the next closest, the xoom and the soon to be HP Touchpad are in the same price range. Android OS is catching up quickly, but it's still a market were Mac OS is on top. It's the most polished right now, but of course, there is going to be something bigger and badder it the coming months. I would think the Mac would stand up better to the times since Android is spread out across several different companies.

I've heard some good things about the Galaxy, but have yet to try one out. It's also lighter on the wallet.

If you use a mac, it will be easy to sync up with the ipad, but if you are used to windows, the disk drive system on the others won't be a problem either, so don't worry about that.

Like I said, I don't have a ton of experience with them, but there are a ton of videos out there comparing them.

What's most important to you (other than price)? Media/Music, gaming, ease of use, casual internet, choice of apps?

ipad 2 is the best tablet overall. now, it is an expensive toy so it is debatable if it is worth the $......but it is superior to anything currently out.

Thats not the question.

The question is what can it do better than what you already own.

The answer is anything web based with more comfort and ease of use. Throw in music and tons of amazing apps and games and you have an answer.

We have an xbox 360, nintendo Ds, Xbox Kinect and Laptop in our house and my wife and kids fight over the ipad.

blackberry = flash!

I run the net on that exactly the same as on a laptop/desktop

plus for me the blackberry so I could bridge to my torch and not need an extra data plan.

What can you do with it that you can't do with other devices that you already own?

I want to download home plans, lot sizes, set backs in certain neighborhoods, price sheets, entry codes, slide shows, etc into it so that I can have it for my appointments with clients.

Laptop is too big, and slow, and phone is too small to really show my clients whatever it is that I am presenting.
