The players are going to wait for the outcome of the appeal, if the owners win the appeal (and it sounds like they will) then the players will quickly make a deal. If the owners lose the appeal, then the owners will quickly made a deal.

DeMo Smith is the problem, not Goodell.

He has been bombastic and confrontational since the day he was hired. It is really hard to get behind that guy.

As soon as they put a counter proposal on the table (no matter how bad for the owners) the sooner the real negotiations can start.

Until then I can't believe that they are participating in good faith.

No way I'd even consider supporting the players in the slightest until they try to make a counter proposal. They want it all, and they want it when they want it. They have no desire to compromise. They're the ones who wanted to send this thing to the courts instead of negotiating at the table.

I still think that people here taking sides on this are funny. You were there during negotiations? You really know the exact numbers they're playing for and each sides' long term plans and intentions? You must be a very important person with a lot of NFL contacts. I would hate to think that anybody genuinely believes anything getting said in the media.

If they settle it soon, super awesome football fun ahead. If not, I'm not going to watch a league that's thrown together with a few weeks preparation. The product will be terrible this year if something isn't settled soon, and I'll blame both sides and go watch college football and miss out on the 6 dollar beers.

"goodell is teh suck" is such a stupid response to this. it's knee-jerk and pathetic, completely misguided, much like all the morons who booed him during the draft announcements. ask any one of them why they booed the guy and maybe 5% of them could lay out a coherent response.

all this to say, goodell is obviously applying pressure here, raising the stakes. it's easy to focus on the term "lockout" but when the eventual effect of missing precious NFL games hits home, that's when things will start to happen. this is goodell's (very smart) way of applying the pressure as early as possible. duh

Goodell is doing nothing but stating the obvious"

We all know that the sides need to get back to the table. However, the players NEVER had ANY intention of negotiating.

The owners have made two proposals....the last of which was a great start. When the other side won't even respon, it is VERY evident who the whiney little bitches are in this matter....the players.

Negotiation can only take place when both sides are attempting to negotiate....which is NOT what we have here.
