I'm thinking that this will be the end of Rhys Lloyd again

We have way too much depth at numerous positions like: QB, RB, LB, DE, WR, and now TE... I dont think there's any way in hell that we retain this guy in the coming season.

Sure some guys will go, others will come... I just really liked him and thought it was dumb that we got rid if him when he signed with Minnesota during their "magical" run.

I'd be shocked if they got rid of Kasay to keep him. Ge has a hell of a leg, and I know that he kicks LONG field goals in pre game warm ups. Like I said though... Kasay still has some years in him.

I know this is a thread about a kicker... I get it, but field position is paramount in this game of inches... I'd like to see us keep him but I just dont think it'll be plausible this year. I sure as hell hope we keep 'em though!

Just a random thought... Take it or leave it.

i expect rivera will want to figure out the future of the kicking position on the team and will give lloyd ample opportunity to prove himself. if we have football this season i expect to see him out there trying for a 55+ yarder at some point to see if the practice-field rumors of him nailing 60-yarders are true...

It will be interesting to see what the new kickoff rule does to Rivera's thinking about needing a guy who can kick off and reach the endzone. Kasay could boot it to the 10 most times. So he should be a ble to reach the 5. If that is close enough, then there might not be a reason for a long kickoff specialist. Rhys could kick it out of the endzone most times though. It might still be worth it.

J. Kasay's a great guy and kicker but he's pretty old and not going to last forever. I think we need to keep his successor on the roster.

Given Lloyd has never kicked a field goal in a regular season game for us that I can remember, I wouldn't exactly think he is a shoo-in as his successor.

It will be interesting if they let Rhys kick field goals in pre-season... That would be the first clue that something is up...

Of course he'll only be kicking extra points when Cam is in.

Rhys should get plenty of field goal opportunities with Mike Goodson returning kicks to the opponents 40 yard line... Only so Jimmy can come in and go 3 and out! Yep, that's when he'll get his FG attempts...

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
