He is far and away the best QB prospect available and the most underrated free agent.

Only in the Huddle the grass is always greener on the other side. Moore couldn't beat out a rookie QB on one of the worst offenses in NFL history - need I say more. Moore looked absolutely horrible last year and looked more scared than Clausen.

I wish him the best and he has a really cool story, but the fact of the matter is he had his chance and didn't capitalize. He even had a second and third chance when Clausen was struggling and still couldn't get it going.

What are you talking about. The reason Clausen got to play was because Moore got a concussion.

The Vikings game in 09 shows what he's capable of...and the Giants game this past year also shows what he's capable of. He can make very good throws but doesn't always make the best decisions. Right now, he's a good backup QB but needs to step it way up like in 09 if he wants to start anywhere.

Yes and when he got healthy he got another shot and ended up back on the bench. The guy has been in the league for 5 years and looked more nervous than a rookie QB. Not to mention as bad as Clausen was, Moore played less games and had two MORE turnovers.

Matt Moore hasn't even proven that he can be a back-up yet, much less a starter elsewhere. Face the facts, Moore is a career back-up on a good day.

So if Newton starts from game one and throws a lot of Int's, does that mean he will never make it?

After his fifth year in the NFL like Moore - Yes, it means he will never make it.

The stats for Clausen and Moore are both horrible, but Clausen's stats are probably a little better than Moore's last year based on the fact he didn't turn the ball over as often. Having said that, everyone here is ready to put Clausen on the first bus out of town with the same horrible offense and poor play calling. But not Moore, he should be given a mulligan because we had a horrible offense and poor play calling. This rationale is beyond belief for me.

Number of games actually played is more important than number of years played. While it might be good for rookies to carry a clipboard for a while, nothing takes the place of gametime experience. And in that regard, both Moore and Clausen were rookies.

Regarding Clausen v Moore, the only reason Moore has more turnovers is that he didn't throw the ball away nearly as much as Clausen did. He at least tried to throw it down the field. And our receivers were horrible last year. Two rookies that took a while to learn the game (and will still struggle at times this year. And our vet didn't have a stellar year either.

If you are going to look at Moore, you have to look at all of his games, not just a few games last year. And please don't give me this hogwash about no pressure when he was QB in previous years versus being the man last year. Its the NFL, there is pressure anytime you step out on the field. In one of his first games for us, Moore came out against the Cowboys with the entire nation watching and played fairly well.

Does Moore deserve criticism for his play last year? Yes he does. Is he going to be the next Peyton Manning? Not likely. But with a pair of rookie WR's and a offensive line that was injured and couldn't run block worth a crap during the early part of the season, I doubt Peyton Manning himself would have looked good for us. I do think that Moore has a shot at being a decent QB somewhere in the NFL. Not for us perhaps, but when and if he goes to another team, he might be a solid QB.

I guess everyone is entitled to their opinion. Matt Moore has had as many horrific games as he has had good games. The NFL is littered with guys that are not consistent. If receivers aren't open I would rather see the QB throw the ball into the 10th row instead of throwing into triple coverage. Don't take my word for this, ask any coach in the world if they would rather see a ball thrown out of bounds or forced into coverage. It just blows my mind how there is such a double standard in the treatment of Clausen v. other players.

Add to the fact that everyone knows Fox favors players with experience v. rookies. Say whatever you want about Moore but he has been in the NFL for 5 years and should have the advantage over Clausen. The coaches get to see what guys do in practice day in and day out. Combination of his game performance coupled with the fact that Fox chose a rookie over Moore says it all.
