Still want him?

I think he is one of those cancer types. The DUI doesn't bother me as much as when he was caught out drinking last year until 4 in the morning a couple days before a game and the night before practice. Football is not a priority.

act like u haven't ever done the same thing on a weekday in your entire life...

Not saying I want him... Let's just calm it down on the judging from afar

People who drink and drive KILL innocent people. Do not try to justify it by applying the fact that you have done it before. If you lost a child or wife or parent to a drunk driver, I doubt your attitude would be so casual.

I don't want Braylon Edwards because he can't catch.

And if we get Braylon, I do not think you would have to worry about Smitty liking him. It would be because Steve Smith is on another team.

After the Jarrett mess, I do not see BE in panther blue.

If you can't judge someone based on getting arrested, then when can you judge them? This isn't his first time getting in trouble. We aren't talking about someone that gets paid minimum wage and is a server at a restaurant. This is a pro athlete that gets paid millions of dollars and is fortunate enough to play a sport that 99.9% of the people in the US would give their left arm to play. So yes, I have a problem when people get paid millions and don't act like professionals.

Obviously his record is something that should be in consideration. To my knowledge though, he's avoided legal problems for near a year now. It's something I'll leave up to the FO to judge. If they believe he's changed, no problem for me.

As for dropping balls, he only had four this year. And had the 12th lowest drop percentage in the entire league.

I doubt he will see anymore legal ramifications, and its highly unlikely he will be suspended imo. With that said I still wouldn't have him on my board as a top option, but I would absolutely have him under serious consideration, given his past success in the system.

As far as the DWI stuff. Drunk driving is a serious problem. And a lot of people do it. I think it's better to judge the problem than the people. Braylon "can" be reckless and immature, he has proven that. But there is still that possibility that he's grown up some and surrounded himself with better people to get his career back on track.

I got a DUI, and it's no joke. I got it less than a month after I turned 21. I dont think it should necessarily prevent someone from being considered though. His apparent lack of passion for the game is a bigger concern IMO.

    • I like what Freeling brings to the table all around. If he is willing to put in the work he has an opportunity to be one of the better Tackles in the league down the line. Hunter Brazzell and Hecht are all premium additions but development from our staff are the key to unlocking them. Hopefully Lee and Wheatley will provide much needed additional depth to our secondary. Beyond that it's important not to get too caught up in draft grades. Many drafts over the years that turned out to be really good were not fawned over with praise. While some that were ended up being historical duds. Panthers fans ought to know this as well as anyone. In conclusion...
    • Maybe a bit of a homer take but I can't give us a grade lower than A.   Freeling was arguably the best LT prospect in the draft.  His athletic ability is off the chart and at 6'7" that can move.  It was a no brainer pick.   Hunter's key word is Violence. Putting him next to Brown should scare an offensive coordinator. These two give Scourton and Phillips plenty of chances to get one on one opportunities. Brazzell, another tall receiver with sprinter speed.  Our WR room is filled with tall talented WR.  Brazzell is going to give us a WR that can take to roof off the defense.  Basically Jimmy Horn with size. W. Lee III has a nickname of the Blanket. (heard this on the Beleav podcast with J. Stewart)  What a great name.  A great value in the 5th round. Hecht A strong, fast and extremely smart center. Many had him listed as the best center in the draft.  He's most likely a starter sooner than later. Wheatley A good safety in round 5.  Someone who could see playing time.   Kuwatch  I love this pick.  At minimum he will be a key piece on special teams and with some good coaching he'll see some packages where he'll play.  His down piece is he doesn't stay up in the running game.  Good coaching will fix this.  He reminds me a bit of A.J. Klein.   All these picks were great value.  I believe everyone of them were graded higher than the pick we took them.   Dan Morgan is IMO doing a great job turning this team into a good team with great depth.
