Thomas Davis is under contract for 2011

According to ESPN’s John Clayton, a little-known-rule from 2010 has taken Davis off the market. Since he spent the entire 2010 season on the physically-unable-to-perform (PUP) list, Davis’ 2010 contract terms have tolled over to 2011.

Clayton reports that Davis remains under contract for $3.268 million in 2011. He missed all of 2010 after suffering a major knee injury during offseason workouts. Davis also suffered a knee injury in 2009 and was recovering when he injured it again.

Clayton says a source said the team wants to sign Davis to a long-term contract. When healthy, Davis is viewed as one of the league’s top outside linebackers. If he can get back to full speed, Carolina could have one of the league’s top linebacker groups.

Figured he be back anyway, might be a good chance to see how he does before a significant extention.

Agree. While I am thrilled he will be here, you can't help but think he could be Dan Morgan V2. Let's hope for the best because he is great when healthy.

      I encourage you to go back and watch his college play. Notice how he immediately backpedals to 10 yards behind the LOS on almost every snap. You can't do that in the NFL. Your OTs have no chance of keeping those freak show edge rushers off of you. You can't create a pocket that deep. Bryce can chuck it when he has an airport runway in front of him to step up into. There's a reason why "ease of creating velocity" is such a talking point evaluating QBs. It's not how hard or how far you can throw the ball given a perfect situation. It's how hard and how far you can throw the ball in a typical NFL game situation and that's where a lot of my concerns with Bryce were going into the draft. There were way too many plays in his college tape that if you were watching that purely in terms of translating it to the NFL it just didn't work.

      Yeah, like I said I get it. From a revenue perspective I'm not a good customer for them. They've probably intentionally tanked offline franchise mode to try to get people online. Again, not a terrible strategy from a pure business perspective. I can't really be mad at them for doing what's good for business but yeah, from my perspective it still sucks.

      Ok let me be more specific. Smith was a stud before Newton got here do you not agree? Yes, LaFell improved under Cam but then had his best years after leaving the Panthers with Cam as the QB and going to NE. So he improved playing with someone else. Olsen was in Chicage the year before Cam arrived and statistically had the same numbers his first year with Cam.  Hope that's clearer for you.
