I guess it's down to Kelvin Hayden or a CB that is cut

Is Hayden that much of a drop off from Carlos Rogers? Hayden just turned 28 last month and from what I've seen comparing stats, seems like he has played a similar role as Rogers in Washington. Does Hayden fit our scheme? Any speculation on who could be cut from other teams before opening weekend that we could acquire? Gamble as a 1 and Captain in the nickel is okay, but that gaping hole at the #2 spot is rough. Rogers on a 1-year deal for the $$ he got in SF would have fit perfectly, and given us a band-aid until next year when we can address it. Hmmmmm...... decisions decisions.

Hayden comes from a tampa2 zone scheme, similar to John Fox' scheme. We are going to be a blitz-zone scheme now, so it wouldn't be a huge adjustment for Hayden to make the switch..

thats the thing i'm fighting in my own mind. i keep on looking at these "glaring" holes that i think we have, esp. with CB and the lack of available talent out there and i get frustrated.

then i have to remind myself of who the HC is. the guy knows what he's doing. i know it's not totally up to him, but i feel good that hurney is doing his best to get the guys that rivera wants. if rivera thinks that we will be alright with the guys that we have or that he can make it work...he knows better than any of us. he knows better than just about anyone in the league. if he thinks it's alright to wait and see what falls with the cuts, the we have to believe that the guy knows what he's talking about and if anyone can make it work, i've got to believe rivera can.

FYI...Marty Hurney was on WFNZ this morning around 7:30a and was addressing the need for a CB and what their stance/plan on it was. Not sure if it is available on podcast or not yet. There may even be a thread on it already.

I think the team is taking a wait and see approach. I fully expect them to pick up a cb before the start of the season and Hayden would be at the top of my list. Also lmao at thinking you know more than Riveria
