JR Addresses Accusations of Being Cheap

Smart doesn't = cheap. many of us said he had a plan and that plan was to dump salaries, can the coaching staff, and hire new and better then spend when the CBA was fixed.

Sorry that isn't cheap, its smart. you don't just spend money to spend it and keep the fans happy, you do it with a set plan WHEN the time is right to help the franchise.

So those ripping on him last year were wrong, and those not willing to admit it are pussys.

I disagree. If he had dumped Fox last year, brought in Rivera, got rid of some veterans but not all of them, signed a franchise Qb last year when it would be cheaper we could have had a good last year and been much better set up tthis year given our system would have been in place already. Tampa still had a winning season and are better set up this year.

Sure he had a plan but it was a sucky one.

could Rivera have been signed? was he not in a contract for the 2010 season?

also, do you really think it's wise to go spend money on players the year before all the rules are about to change?

Then JR would've given that reasoning as why he didn't fire John Fox...he brought up the having to pay two coaches argument.

Ask Denver why they did what they did. Many teams dumped their coaches mid-season. JR had a plan to go cheap leading into a lockout. Be it paying new coaches, extending contracts, or signing free agents. He told us exactly why he did what he did. We shouldn't seek out excuses for the man.

Remember...the apology he gave to PSL/STHers? That was bad product last year BECAUSE of his intentions of locking out. You can call that being a savvy businessman...but he did it on the backs of paying customers expecting an organization to try to win. But one thing's good...we're not Cincinnati.

I'm not sure why people are saying JR wasn't cheap. it's obvious he was. and you're right, he gave reasons..

those reasons make every bit of sense in the business world..

it was business savvy.. fans had to wait a year. don't pay the guy or suck it up and understand it makes the most business sense.. it's 1 year out of 20+ you're paying the guy. with the CBA on the rise and a new coaching staff, how doesn't it make sense to hold off a year before you make moves?

bad example man.. so let's say Anderson, Davis, DLo, Kalil, Beason were paid last year instead of this year?

fact is, some could have walked had he chose not to pay them.. if they had been signed last year, this conversation would still be irrelevant..

I know, but people are confusing "spending spree" with doing what he HAD to do. There is a difference. If anyone thinks he was going to let the core just walk, you're crazy. There has not been a spending spree, it's more like he was just paying bills on the team.

I gotcha..

he didn't have to sign them, he could have just let them walk.. the fact that he didn't means he had to spend to keep them.. I know, speakin technicalities..

Why doesn't he apologize for taking my PSl money and pocketing it while putting a horrible product on the field. Honestly he should be the one apologizing. And for the record, he was cheap last year.

Couldn't agree more.

I'm not apologizing for paying full price for something and getting next to nothing in return.

In a way Richardson owes more to PSl owners than teams that just have season ticket holders. Because we have a contract which requires us to purchase tickets and when we are bad have no ability to even sell the PSLs, we can't just stop buying them. Season ticket holders can just stop buying them with no consequence. As a result we have joined with Richarson in a partnership which allows him to avoid paying huge stadium costs which saves him money. He in return needs to do everything he can to field as a competitive product as possible given we can't easily respond by not buying tickets. Does that mean we won't have ups and downs?? Of course not, but when you intentionally fail to hold your end of the bargain up, you need to make it right and apologize.

Lets be honest it isn't like he has exactly delivered the wins. We have had only 4 winning seasons in our franchise history.

You can just stop buying your season tickets. You lose your seat ... that's the consequence ... so your initial "investment" is gone. It is not a partnership, it is a contract. You willingly signed it, and there's not a "performance clause" in it for the team.

Negative ghost rider.

He doesn't owe you anything more than he owes my dear Milli dog who is currently taking a nap.

You purchased the PSL's.

You accepted the terms of the contract.

You have the privaldge of getting tickets.

That's all he "owes" you, the right to get those tickets.

That said I'm glad people had the means to get in the PSL deal. It helped us have a team where in all honesty we probably would never have.

yeah. He just pocket the money.

Nevermind, that cleaning house last off season was required so we could spend this year. He didnt know that last season would end up 2 and 14. Nobody did. But keep blaming richardson.

    • So, Carolina (7-6) goes into a Bye Week while they sit on top of the NFCS with Tampa Bay (7-5). For those that don’t know here is how the tiebreaking procedures work for the Division: Head-to-head (best won-lost-tied percentage in games between the clubs). Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the division. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference. Strength of victory in all games. Strength of schedule in all games Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed in all games. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed in all games. Best net points in common games. Best net points in all games. Best net touchdowns in all games. Coin toss The Panthers are currently 7-6 with a 2-1 record in the division and a 5-3 record in the NFC. The Bucs are currently 7-5 with a 2-0 record in the division and 5-3 record in the NFC. *Should the Panthers make it to Tiebreaker #5 they will almost certainly lose since this team enjoys winning in the final minute each week. Hopefully, they can avoid letting it go that far. Remaining Schedules: The Panthers round out their schedule with: ·       Bye Week ·       @ New Orleans (2-10) ·       VS Tampa Bay (7-5) ·       VS Seattle (9-3) ·       @ Tampa Bay (7-5) Tampa will round out their schedule with: ·       VS New Orleans (2-10) ·       VS Atlanta (4-8) ·       @ Carolina (7-6) ·       @ Miami (5-7) ·       VS Carolina (7-6) So to make this even more complicated, you need to cheer for the Saints this week and be prepared to hate them next week. Hopefully, them, the Falcons, or the Dolphins can give us a hand along the way. Conclusion: The easiest path forward is to beat New Orleans and sweep the Bucs. However, that would be too easy so we may need some help from our cousins in Georgia and Louisiana. Personally, I think Miami may give Tampa some problems since it looks like they are starting to turn their season around. But knowing us, we will find a way to lose to the Saints and somehow beat Seattle just to keep things interesting. There is 1 quarter of the football season left, and the way I have it figured that’s kind of how our playoff chances go over the next 4 games: By finishing: ·       1-3: (Eliminated, even if one wins against Tampa, it won’t matter) ·       2-2: (50% chance depending on who we beat, if Seattle/New Orleans- No. If Tampa both times, maybe if not likely, would still need some help from somebody on their schedule). ·       3-1: (Very likely if not certainly. Would mean sweeping the Bucs and either the Saints/Seahawks OR beating Saints/Seahawks with at least one win against the Bucs) ·       4-0: (Dust off your Sunday best and clip your nails, we are hosting a playoff game!) So get ready for meaningful football in December, because it’s here for the first time in a long while.
    • I really don't think so. They're different receivers. Coker doesn't have that straight line speed. X may have to worry if we bring someone else in, but I still think he has a chance to get it together.
    • should have given carter the blessing to wear his number.  Also fug the giants. refused to throw the ball in the 4th quarter.  Dumbass Kafka
