All of Cam Newtons plays at FanFest (video)

I thought they looked about the same...inconsistent. Neither did an outstanding job as neither looked horrible. I don't see where people are thinking Cam is running away with this QB competition. It has to be pure bias, because watching that video and a practice in Spartanburg does indicate that to me at all. Yes, Cam has taken more shots down field. That makes him the better QB? Really? I can heave a ball 40 yards down field, but I am far from a QB, let alone an NFL calibre one. This is not the Pro Bowl Challenge to see how far they can throw the ball. Granted, Cam would win, but chucking a ball deep down field is only ONE aspect of the QB position.

Cam is looking more, and more like the better OVERALL quarterback. That's why people are saying this.

I honestly would prefer Derek just outshining them both come preseason time, and starting for a few regular season games (if not the whole season) but contrary to popular belief, Rivera and Hurney have set this team up to be competitive no matter who is QB'ing this team.

And with that said, Cam gives this team the better shot at putting up points, and making this team competitive.

Man, talk about people seeing completely different things from the same videos.

JC: WAY more accurate for sure. Went to the underneath route a lot, but it picked up 10-12 yds most of the time. And it was the open rec. Looks VERY slow footed. Handled the blitz much better than Cam did. Needs to look downfield more just to test what he can get.

Cam: Rocket arm, but damn did he hold onto the ball forever. Some nice throws deep and fades, but man, there were some awful ugly throws as well. Not very accurate on short-mid range. Athletic as there is. Got caught flat footed on blitzes, needs to have a hot rec. Looks huge!

And what shows some fans stupidity... when JC throws a flat route or underneath completion it's either boos or silence. When Cam threw the EXACT same route, wild cheers erupt. WTF is that? Some people are just beyond biased.

Meh, Cam represents so much hope and optimism, I don't blame people for cheering at everything he does, even incompletions.

Of course frankly I think it's bullshit to boo Clausen when he makes smart plays, even if they aren't what fans want to see. This is a practice, not a game... *shrugs*

JC was a pro O type QB and has one season under his belt. Cam had to learn everything from scratch and probably change his game and adjust. And they're about even at this point after one week.

Cam all the way.

Jimmy's throwing motion makes me sick. He throws it side armed and it barely has any lift. No wonder he had so many balls batted down at the line last year. Just watch the last 5 passes he makes on that video. It sucks that he has hardly progressed as a QB even after having a entire season under his belt.

Thanks for posting.

Jimmy still looks scared to throw downfield. Almost all of his passes were check down or short underneath passes. He certainly doesn't have the same arm strength CN has. You can see jimmy's passes tail downward on so many throws. I'm up for Derek Anderson starting the first qtr of the season. If he is doing well keep him in, if not Cam by the 5th game. Sink or swim and Cam seems to have the right attitude to not give up

    • Dude, I think I might be having Jarvy withdrawals... I ripped the sleeves off of all of my t-shirts in my sleep last night. Every bite of my Alpha-Bita cereal spelled Seth, this morning. And, I took 7 naps before lunch. I'm losing it guys! Jarvy's Jaunty Band of Jaggoffs are getting more play than he is... smh Team Canada doesn't treasure Jarvis the way he deserves. He should take his band down to Liechtenstein, get a bag of passports, and start his own Olympic team! The raw animal magnetism of Jarvilicious will bring in a handful of NHLers on its own. And, since the IOC believes in collective punishment, he could have his pick of the rookies. Then, just fill out the rest of the roster with the maple blooded great white northerners who couldn't make the top squad. Can't trust this assembled awesomery to just any old Liechtensteinien with a clipboard and a whistle. Gotta bring in a legend worthy of this gold medal gambit. A hockey HOFer with the balls to buck the system and the aura to match our maverick. Huere geil, Vaduz!!! 2030 Gold Medal guaranteed!
    • Tennessee isn't trading a QB on a 2nd round contract that has starting experience.  That's bad business.
    • OT is the top priority as it is both an immediate and future need.  I wouldn't be past trading up slightly to get the guy we want.  You need that rookie contract right now.  Icky is a dead 17.5 million for the season.  Morton is 20+ mil for the season, Hunt is 20+ mil for the season.  There needs to be forward thinking regarding the future.   Caleb Lomu is a left Tackle, he's a solid prospect, he may be the best pick for us now and in the future.  I would seriously consider cutting Hunt after 2026, and let Lomu and Icky fight for the LT job, loser moves inside.  Icky's future may be at guard after this injury anyway.  If Damien Lewis keeps up his level of play he will need to be paid sooner rather than later.  Yosh and BC can be our top two depth OL at an affordable price.  You will need to look at OT again in 2027. Getting an EDGE for the sake of getting an EDGE outside of the top 10 is pretty risky.  I wouldn't be against eyeing someone like Cashius Howell, Derrick Moore, or TJ Parker in the 2nd (even if we trade a future pick to move up) or DDS in the third. I'd love to see us try to sign both Leo Chenal and Matt Millano in FA.   Chenal for the blitzing element we are missing from our LB corps and Millano for his elite coverage.  They could both work in tandem.  Remember, our FO has deep ties to both KC and Buffalo. I love thinking about the draft, but until Free Agency hits, we are clueless.  Looking at the strength of FA and the draft, OL is priority #1, LB #2, and EDGE #3.  We know what happens to Bryce when protection falls apart.
