Steve Smith back on WFNZ 610

Discussed his injury and how it looked worse then it was.

Mentioned how difficult it was last year for gross and how it even more tough on beason then anyone else.

He thinks the best panther of all time was Sam mills since his child was born the sam day mills past away.

Discussed his relationship with Cam and their friendship. He also mentioned how he was just as good of friends with jimmy as well.

Biggest misconeption he thinks people think about him; Being a thug and how he let his emotions control him in the past.

Smitty doesn't waste his time with twitter or facebook

Thinks a sucessful season for the panthers is the playoffs. A true fan shouldn't expect anything less.

Ron Rivera is up next.

So in addition to being a highly skilled WR he is also a highly skilled liar......:p

Rivera interview highlights

Riveras hardest part about being a new headcoach is letting the other coaches do there thing and not to get involved all the time. Likes to focus on the linebackers too much cause of his past.

Thinks Cam and jimmy still have a long learning process to go. The most baptism by fire camp he's ever been in.

Feels more of a rookie then cam newton in this training camp.

expressed how that the depth chart is UNOFFICIAL and to not look into it that much as he had to put something out.

JIMMY IS NOT PEGGED AS THE STARTER SATURDAY HE DOESN"T KNOW WHERE THAT CAME FROM. but every will get to play with the expection of pike.

Not since his his child was born the day he died, but because of how great of a leader he was on and off the field...

And he is honored that his child's birthday is connected with 51 in some way...Something along the lines of everytime he sees his child it is somehow connected to SM

I'm starting to think Rivera might start Cam Sat.......

That is who he wants to start week 1 anyway (per reports)....he also mentioned being worried about putting QB investments behind young OL in the preseason earlier this week.......

I mean why not just say Jimmy is the going to start Sat. That would make sense to even the biggest Clausen hater.

just seems odd. Plus, if you are going to start Clausen and Cam both in the preseason (one would assume games 1 and 2 and the best looking starts 3)......why wouldn't you start Cam at home and Clausen on the road. One 3 and out (with a signature toss out of bounds) from Clausen to open things up could expose him to who knows what......

too strong of a word for a guy is obviously protecting the best interests of the team for one thing and if you really want to go further. . Jimmy has been a teamate of his for over a year now. It is likely that they are friends, just as good of friends in fact.

i was just kidding.

difference between disliking someone's play and them. Jimmy seems like a likeable kid.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
