So who's going to return kicks and punts?

With munnerlyn's position at cornerback now arguably the most critical one on the team, it doesn't seem to make much sense to let him return punts (though he was damn good at it last season.)

To the guys covering camp: who have they been running the most at the two positions? Is Goodson still taking most of the KO duties?

Depending on how preseason goes, I'm expecting to see Goodson stay on the KO returns (he's gonna break at least one this season if our blocking is halfway decent) and then Armanti to take punts, if he's as good as everyone's saying he is.

Captain needs to stay solely at CB to minimize risk of injury.

Thoughts?

I'd like to see Armanti at PR. Maybe throw Smitty in a few times if our offense is stagnant and we need a boost.

I feel like KR will be a non factor this year due to the new touchback rules. Goodson can sit back there to kneel down though lol.

After watching last night's games, it is clear that there isn't going to be a whole lot of kick returns this year.

Not until the winter when the ball gets hard as a rock. I think you will start seeing some teams bring the ball out if they have a guy that is a real threat.

    • when we drafted Bryce Young that team might have been more talented than the team we currently have ?  that was the whole reasoning behind morgagting  our immediate future to trade up to #1 overall for BY. our front offices & owners felt like hey guess what the time is now to srike while the iron is hot go hire an All Star coaching staff we were only a Qb away from taking that next step ..just saying
    • I just dont get the worry over losing a practice squad player that just went undrafted. Everyone just made their selections. The chances of a team wanting to sign him to an active roster after not selecting him is very low.  If that interested they would have taken him late to evaluate in person. As far as I can tell two qbs were signed off another teams practice squad last season and they were both going in to their 5th season.
    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
