I hate to bring this up. I swear. I really do.

I like you guys.

But someone had to do it.

So let's get this over with. Just touch on this subject and get back to our lives.

Look here folks.

These contracts, given by the self described "best cap GM in the NFL," are killing you!

Killing you!

Let's start with Charles Johnson.

I know he had a breakout year in 2011.

And I know you had to keep him away from my Falcons.

But you got duped.

DUPED!!!!

All reports coming out of Atlanta say that the birds were offering 7m/year.

Nowhere close to the 12/yr you gave him.

So, somehow Dimitroff (who I do not think highly of, BTW) and CJ's agent got you good.

No doubt CJ wanted to return home to Atlanta.

But did you really need to give him 5m/year more?

'Ole Chas didn't want to go home that bad.

And now you're stuck with a guy with only one season of success for 6 years/72 million.

Just great.

Moving on.

DeAngelo Williams?

Please.

I know he's done some good things for you in the past.

But he's hit a wall recently, was injured, and is already 28.

And runningbacks are going for peanuts on the open market these days.

Peanuts!

So what does the "smartest cap GM in the NFL" do?

He gives him a 5 year, 43 million dollar contract with 21 guaranteed?

:nono::nono::nono::nono:

Like I said.

I recognize that the panthers didn't have the best season last year.

And were gonna have to pay a premium to get FA's.

But 'ole "DWill" got 2 to 4 times his market value.

These chickens will come home to roost!

I guarantee it.

And on to the line backers.

Beason, I can understand that.

That guy is a playmaker. 10m/yr is fine.

But Thomas Davis at 5 years, 22 million after 2 ACL tears in a year?

James Anderson to the same contract after one okay year?

You better hope Beason can pick up their slack.

And here's the kicker (:D:D:D:D).

Your brilliant "cap genius GM" paid 12 million over 4 years for Olindo Mare?

4 guaranteed?

He of 38 years and the 80% FG rate?

Was your "brilliant GM" trying to keep up with Tampa (Signed punter to 19.5 million deal)?

Folks.

In summary.

You overpaid to keep guys who led you to a 2-14 record last year.

These chickens will come back to roost.

I'm telling you.

Cam Newton better be the future.

Or "Cap Genius Hurney" is cooked

As are you.

However, seeing as how ATL's boneheaded GM "Thomas Dummytroff" has gotten 2 "executive of the year" awards after 0 playoff wins, and a bunch of dumb moves, you may be seeing an EOY award pretty soon.

Aren't you supposed to be out there licking Peters' knee?

And kudos to your "GM" for signing Edwards to a monster contract without knowing that he had a knee surgery. Brilliant!

The third DT who will be missing just one PS game?

And Edwards (who we got for less than half of CJ) has participated fully in practice.

Look Dtan, I like you, too.

But it really puts you in a bad spot to discuss the moves our GM has made when your GM mortgaged the future to move up and grab the 2nd best WR in the draft when it was obvious in the playoffs that it was defense that the Falcons sorely needed...

I am happy to have that discussion.

I can be quite objective.

You wanna know why I am IP banned from the falcons boards?

I brought up that exact point. On many occasions.

"Pie" for you sir.

    • He has rarely been aggressive enough to be considered a gunslinger type player. The guy he is describing is Pat Mahomes-esque and I doubt any of us see that in Bryce.  When the play is breaking down or he bails on the play, how often are we really seeing him laser it into a tight window? How about scramble long enough to get someone breaking free and then hitting them? I remember that far less, although I am not sitting down to look at all 2.5 years of data, than I am checkdowns, throw aways, off target passes, scrambles, etc.
    • Wow this is some crazy nonsense. First, he doesn't have problems picking up the ball on quick slants or screens, go back and watch the replays, you can clearly see him start to turn his head on those drops before the ball is in his hands, it's a concentration issue, not an issue of picking up the ball. Yes, it's 100% something he has to improve upon and it's still a knock on him, but you're making up a problem that isn't there, when the real problem that is there is a very correctable one and also one that is rather common for a player 6 games into his career and trying to do too much. After that, I genuinely don't understand what your point is in bringing up where he ranks in YPC, as if that's some indicator of his abilities.  Which, to begin with, he's not 31st, he's 26th (and that's before even factoring in the players above him with just a handful of catches, like Horn Jr with his 4 catches).  Then below him in that YPC ranks are guys like Chase, CeeDee, London, Tyreek, Waddle, Higgins, BTJ, Wilson etc, so I'm not sure what pointing out his ranking has anything to do with what kind of player he is or might become.  All of that before even looking how close he is to being much higher on the list because they're all so close together, he's 27 yards across 6 games shy from being in the Top 15. If you want to pick and choose stats, why not look at things like being 3rd in the NFL in catches of 20+ yards or 6th in the NFL in 1st down catches? And finally, no, just no.  He doesn't look far less pro ready than Egbuka, he's just in a significantly worse situation if you're just looking for a big statistical output.  Egbuka is playing with the current front runner for MVP, in a pass happy offense, where all their other pass catchers keep getting hurt, so of course he's going to be putting up big stats.  Swap those players and T-Mac might be leading the NFL in yards right now, not to mention would have just as many TD's as Egbuka does as well.
    • How about if you don't like my choice of content, then don't click on the thread? We're discussing the NFL, not Pee-wee football. Until we start having "great" games on a continuous basis, I'm going to continue to talk all facets of the team. Moreover, I haven't seen X have a "great" game yet. Just like I supported patience last season, I have become critical this season. If it hurts your feelings, it just hurts your feelings. I've been on this board longer than most of you, and I've been a fan of the Panthers since before they stepped on the field, so don't tell me how to fan.
