Deangelo did not look back late.

but all that said, yeah....Jimmy should of taken it. Jake Delhomme wouldn't of said Smitty did run the right route. He would have shouldered the blame in some fashion.....good QBs do that.

Aye in front of TV camera's you want your QB taking the blame but when breaking down film if its the WR's fault then you want your QB to spot it so they can work on it, which is what Clausen was doing on Gruden's show, breaking down film.

Also for the OP, your whole post says that Jimmy threw the ball to the wrong place and D-Will ran the correct route, we could flip the argument and say that Jimmy threw the ball to the correct place and D-Will ran the wrong route. Unless you can get your hands on a playbook nobody really knows who is in the wrong. As people have said before though, everything seems to have went wrong on this play.

On Gruden's show Clausen claimed to of called an audible on that play......that is different than a WR just running the wrong route on an orginial play. Did Clausen get the audible to the WR effectively????? Who know.....he easily couldn't have. That was Gruden's point...QB takes that.

How's that? The questions still remain, did Oswald know Jimmy would make a bad throw? And did Castro have anything to do with DWill running a lazy route?

Look at where Deangelo looks once he makes his cut.

Back, and to the left.

All these diagrams drew up because of a Preseason mistake? Come on man! its preseason mistakes are going to happen, why waste your time we still have 3 more games to go untill we reach the regular season. Plenty of time to work out the kinks.

I don't care whether the play was in a backyard flag football game, I like talking about football. Stop trying to bring me down, world.

    • There is a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between your opinion and the opinions of most former player hockey guys who do this for a living.
    • I can only imagine the **** eating grins on the committee right now. "Oh, Bama didn't deserve it? Oh, Miami didn't deserve it? Suck it, haters!" lol
    • To say that, is gaslighting, because it isn’t true. I mean, maybe one or two people do that but it isn’t the predominant behavior. Even Frank has given him credit. I think particularly the Rams game. A couple of glowing posts.   I know I have. Gotta be honest about it because if you aren’t it undermines what else you say.  But the degree of how far I go with credit, in terms of it being a projection of future performance? Not very far. Acknowledge it, but require more of it. There is a lot of bad play to offset.    I tried to remain passive while the last 9 games (post ankle injury) played out. It is just really hard when the lows won’t go away. I failed. As high as a couple of those highs were, there isn’t enough.    I know it is premature to just say I want to move on, made my decision after 6 of those games ended up pretty much really good or not good enough, but I have had enough of being patient and letting him show the reality either way.  So in my view, he Could still validate himself to a decent degree if he smokes the last three starts. But also in my view I don’t expect to see it. Maybe one more high quality start, would be my expectation. So yes he could still somehow justify having the job next year. If that happened I still wouldn’t have much faith given the last three years and all that has transpired. Again, there is a lot of bad play to offset.
