What does Cam have to do

On further consideration I would like to see 1 game where game gets 300+ yards(minimum 250 passing), 3+ TD's and at most 1 INT. If he has this sort of game I will be ecstatic. It will show to me that he does have the potential and ability to be a top QB in the league, it might just take a few years to get the consistency down.

Basically I want to see him put the offence on his back and win. A tough ask for a rookie but I think he's up to it.

If wins are irrelevant, why the hell do they keep score? Who cares if he looks like Trent Dilfer, as long as he does his part to help us win games. This isn't a beauty contest.

I am looking forward to some of the responses in this thread. And hats off to Grits for having the balls to do so.

while I kind of agree with you, I think if we're talking about building around him for the long term, looking like Trent Diler would be very, very disappointing.

the reason I don't want to put a wins number or anything is because right now, our defense could either be great (beason returns to full form, scheme covers DTs, Rivera's defensive genius shows) or mediocre to bad (Beason out longer than expected, DT weakness exposed, CB weakness exposed)...

I personally don't care about a certain number of wins, nor is a td/int all to concerning to me. I want to see big plays. I want to see Smitty and Greg with 50+ receptions each. I want to see some 25+ yard gains for him, and most importantly, I want him to look better week 16 than he did week 1.

This is not a playoff team. So I don't think our record will be a fair representation of what kind of season Cam, our guy who we know is going to have some moments here and there, has as he matures(or doesn't) into a franchise leader on the field.

seriously, do you need to do this? come on man. I like to think you're above this.

What? It's the truth.

There is seriously nothing we should "expect" from a Rookie who had a massively shortened off-season due to the lockout, and is playing for a Head Coach who just took over a team that had 3 weeks or so to install a gigantic playbook. It is most likely going to take all season for our team to get on the same page. We will be lucky to get 6 wins. We will be lucky to see any player with Pro-Bowl stats.

Yet... we're not even into 3 preseason games, and people are tearing down his footwork mechanics and his reads like he was a 5 year veteran playing for a 15 year tenured Super Bowl winning coach.

All day Monday on the drive into work, I was listening to local sports radio, and dickwad after dickwad called in saying "We need to go ahead and start Anderson". I had to turn the radio off.

I have given up on the Panther's fanbase.

I just want to see him grasp the offense this year. Next year I want to see the stats and wins begin to mount up. The haters are being rediculous. If he has 15-20 TDs and 15-20 ints, I'm good with that. The kid has had a month of NFL practice and two preseason games. F*ckin A people.

I think those expectations are right in line with a good rookie year.

6-7 wins

2,000+ yds passing

More TD's than Ints

Most importantly is showing improvement and progression throughout the season.

It is going to take time to see his true upside.

So you don't care about wins....you only care about exciting plays......really?

Taht is the dumbest thing a fan can say.

Bottom line is that wins are what matters. I don't care if he passes for 10 yards in a game or 400 yards in a game....all that matters to me is wins.

If we want to win (I say that half heartedly) then Anderson is the right choice, but is that really the biggest goal this season?

Yeah wins are important, but in January if you can say that Cam is better than he was 17 weeks ago then it was a good season.

I think this range of TDs/INTs is all anyone can expect. 15-20 TD/INT.

Around 3000 passing yards would be nice. 400 rushing yards (25 yards per game average) and 4-5 rushing TDs. 6 wins.

If Cam does this, there is no doubt in my mind that we have a franchise QB.

    • With Schoen and Dan Morgan being tight I’d figure we knew this was coming and since he is released, Dan didn’t bite.    But, a quick search says this is at least 80% cap related. They have No cap space and save 8 or 9 million with releasing him.  He has been a captain his entire time there. 145 tackles this year.  They are picking 5th with a new staff and looking at Styles. Hitting that age 30 season and had a disc issue last year (meaning 2024) that did not require surgery.  I haven’t really watched him play but he activated the antennae.
    • OK, we are letting our top RB go.  We have Chuba, Etienne, and Brooks.  Imagine a player who could LEGITIMATELY play the slot and back up at RB?  I am sure he'd be a special team player as well.  I noticed him at the combine, and thought, "Here is a late rounder who could stand out as a slot and provide depth at RB. Without further ado....(I know one Huddler who might be able to tell us more about this guy): Navy running back/wide receiver Eli Heidenreich headlined the 2026 NFL Combine for the Midshipmen, running an official 4.44-second 40-yard dash and recording 16 reps on the bench press. Recognized as a versatile, "Swiss army knife" offensive weapon, Heidenreich solidified his draft stock as a potential day three target.    Eli Heidenreich (RB/WR - Navy) 2026 Combine Performance: 6'0" 200 lbs.   40-Yard Dash: 4.44 seconds. 10-Yard Split: 1.55 seconds. Vertical Jump: 35.5 inches. Broad Jump: 10' 0". Bench Press: 16 Reps. Highlights: Showcased as a premier receiving threat from the backfield, having left Navy as the program's all-time leader in receiving yards (1,994). High character.  Smart.  Maybe, just maybe....
