Im honestly willing to give anyone with a good amount of potential a chance without complaining about it at DT. My dislike for Everette brown far exceeds anyone else on the line, so why not? i'll givem a chance..cant get worst.

My only complaint with the waiver selection is having to hear carowhina fans rationalize why this guy hasn't panned out.

He was stuck as a 3-4 DE because he has 3-4 DE size. He is tall with some bulk. The facts tell the story. He has played for 2 different teams in 3 years, started a good number of games last year without recording a sack, and has now been cut early into the cut cycle by a team without a plethora of DEs. At this point he is a reclamation project with some upside but is unlikely to help out in any meaningful way.

You are probably right, but I doubt it would be much different with anyone else we might get.

But I do agree that being a Tarheel, he is probably evil. ;)

Yeah at this point any pickup is just throwing darts at the wall and hoping something pans out.

Well I hear he does know swahali.

or forbid we call out someone spatting off ignorant statements

Name one. EDwards is/was/will never be anything special. Many fans on this sight wanted to do more to upgrade the DL. Its a huge problem and some middle of the road DT (Edwards) and a scrub (Balmer) isn't going to change things.

So the Panthers are stuck with what they got, nothing.

you called him a journeyman, either 2 teams in 9 years is that to you or you just dont know what youre talking about. No he wasnt a pro bowler, but he was definitely a solid pick up. this is his first trip to the ir so he wasnt injury prone. he anchored down a pretty solid defense for the chiefs last year, you cant get a pro bowler at every position

it's worth a shot. what harm can it do? it's not like he's being handed the starting gig and it's not like we have tons of talent ahead of him either.

dude was miscast in a 3-4 (much like brayton was). we've done well with WW scrubs in the past. why not? it's not like any of you clowns already calling him a turd actually know what you are talking about anyway.

panthers picked him up and there were several teams that were trying to get him as well. probably all of them 4-3 teams thinking that he could do well in his natural position. i guarantee all of them know more than any of you complaining about this move.

if they think it's worth giving him a shot, then i'm on board. if he works out...awesome. if not...who cares? it's not like it cost the team much.

btw...not a tarheel fan.

    • overall agree on the draft grade as a whole on on each pick, but every time I read (and I have read it more than once) that we "gave up two firsts" for Bryce, I am confused. We gave up the 2024 first, but we swapped 2023 firsts, so we didn't give up anything there. We did give up our former first rounder in DJ, but I don't think thats what you mean as one of the "firsts" we gave up.
    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
