Part of the learning process......new looks every week from opponents he is seeing for the first time. can't make too much of things this early.......

take Dalton for example.....he was dog poo last week....stud this week.....neither week defines what he will be this year

Maybe running the ball. Don't get me wrong, I like it, but he's having accuracy trouble hardcore.

Most rookies do with poor OL play and pressure.....no need to panic. Dalton looked like a high school QB out there when teams have been pressuring him the past two weeks.

He overthrows guys sometimes, but it looked more like the route running was the reason. One play the receiver just broke off his route and Cam threw the ball where he expected the receiver to be. He had one big pass that was dropped and another called back on a penalty. Another play he was hit as he was throwing so the ball sailed. About five passing plays were simply busted plays as Cam was forced to scramble before he could even go through his reads.

Overall, Oline is terrible. It looked like Cincy had blanket coverage on receivers. Only receivers getting open were TE's.

He hasn't been spot on with all his throws, but at least 4 incomplete passes were due to the OL ending up in his lap VERY quickly. The run game doesn't get going, the defense can sit back in zone and anticipate routes by the WRs. If we get the run game going at all, Cam has more open receivers off play-actions and we win this game.

Look at the first drive. Our run game was there. Cam didn't play bad at all (OL was in his lap, but other than that, good). We end up scoring a TD. After that, we can't run the ball successfully, Cam struggles.

Bottom line, Cam is fine, Cam will be fine, and Cam does need more reps. He won't be a pro-bowler this year, but he will win us games.

I would say it's stayed the consistently mediocre. But not worse. He's still throwing off his damn back foot.

What really concerns me is that he may be hindering himself by trying to assimilate too quickly into something he's not. Not yet at least. What I mean is he wants to become a pocket passer. Which is great. But I saw some plays tonite where he needed to run. Yet didn't. He wanted to pass. IT'S OK TO RUN WHEN YOU NEED IT! He saw through 3 progressions and he didn't bail. If it's not open, go ahead, run cam, run! Running is his greatest weapon right now. He would have kept some plays alive if he'd done it. It almost seemed like he thought about it and opted not to.

His performance tonite was not great, but wasn't extremely bad. It was mediocre again. I'm glad he got his TD now. No Turn overs is a great thing. That's always a +, but you need more than 3 points. Turn those 2 fg's into TD's this would have been a better game. What's sad is that it was still a close game. Only lost by 11.

Our 'starting' QB went 6-19 vs the 'fugging' bengals. Funny how all the excuses used for Cam now were not applicable for Clausen. Don't get me wrong, I don't care who starts fir us, I care who wins. If I had time, I'd compile all the stats of real starting QBs this preason and show how lackluster Cam is, however, I have a life so I won't. I do think cam is the future, but he's that, the future, not the present. Have we not seen how throwing a rookie qb into the depths of hell results in pure crap? Build a solid team, ease ol Cammy in there; let Jimmy play, then ship him off when Kolb gets hurt!

these past 3 games?

feel free to call me a dumbass btw

Play calling has gotten worse to me.. its like they are forcing the issue with cam.. and the execution is atrocious ... Blitz pickup hasnt been well, the o-line play is bad... Receivers arent being receivers.. Everyone wants pinpoint accuracy, but if he gets the ball anywhere within your upper body catch the damn thing...

    • The difference is about how much player input is allowed and encouraged in the decision making process. Top down teams tend to dictate to players how everything is handled. Disagreements are handled by the coach and players are expected to do what they are told regardless of what they think or feel.  Players are perceived as commodities to be used until we find better. In player led teams player input is encouraged and valued. Players and especially leaders are expected to settle their own disagreements and be accountable to the team but mostly to each other. Players are family to be appreciated and supported in their growth. Is the reality of football the same in both? Yeah there are limited positions, football is a business and winning is the bottom line. Coaches get final say and run the program because that is their job. But in player led teams they feel valued, appreciated, part of a larger whole. Most people who have worked at multiple jobs know exactly what I am talking about. When players try to run the show and don't value  coach input that isn't a player led team, that is a circus which we surely are familiar with in our past.
    • For our pics and trades tonight and tmrw.  Remember, Aho was a 2nd rounder and Slavin was a 4th rounder.
    • Seems to be the consensus from the talking heads. I really wish we had double dipped at center in the 2nd round. Sion will never play in the league.
