Gross: There Was A Rhythm To The Offense

The real test will be in who we add and their value they can bring.I am sure they are evaluating talent, injuries etc...I feel we will make a move or two..but we do not have the money to address them all.I think the needs at DT and cb are obvious. My fear is we will not have plan B for the offesive line.I hope there no illusions on the value Otah will bring. His knee was swollen from just showing up at training camp.

I really don't expect people to talk negatively about Rivera this year, no matter how bad we do except for fair weather fans. Most people with any football sense knows this is going to be a rough year, though it looks to be more rough than even some of us were expecting. I literaly lol'd in the season prediction threads when the homers were giving us anything close to a .500 or even a winning record this year. At this point, even my 5 win estimate is looking iffy.

I predicted 4 wins and wonder if we can make that given our schedule

As bad as Cam's percentage was last night, how many receivers looked open when the ball went in their direction. Yea, Cam had some bad throws but he looks much more comfy in the pocket versus Clausen. At least Cam can extend the play and looks to throw down the field to get the first down. At this point, I would look at Derek Anderson next week and see what he does. If he flops or fairs no better than Cam, then Cam is your starter. Cam will get better with more play. Clausen is third on the depth chart in my opinion.

Great post. I pointed that out in the chat last night... Again, Cam had some off throws, but how often was he throwing to an open man without a defender already on his back.

It seems like the whole offense is still figuring stuff out... OL botching protections, not working together on passing off rushers, WRs (mostly) and TEs not getting open... Just a bad combination of things going wrong simultaneously right now.

just because we didn't see it doesn't mean it wasn't there. once you got past being pissed at how badly things looked in the first half you could see that things were clicking better in the 2nd half. they looked better and more comfortable out there together.

yeah, i wouldn't exactly use the word 'fluid' in describing what i saw, but i'll buy 'rhythm'. it's not an excuse. not sure how anyone could say that there was a rhythm there as an excuse for poor play. all it is saying is that things got to a point that it felt better to them...not that losing felt good or anything foolish like that.

btw...some of you guys need more fiber in your diet. you sound like bunch of constipated ducks on here and on twitter with all the bitching and whining. yeah, things looked bad and probably worse than we expected, but it's just week 3 of preseason. things will get better. this isn't last year where the team had no incentive to improve. these guys have a chip on their shoulder. you want them to get better, don't start calling them out and bitching at them on twitter or whatever. all your going to do is let them know that this fan base doesn't have their back and you'll just get blocked out.

screw it...sound like a bunch of bitter old drunk women if you want. i'm not saying you have to feel good about it or sweep it under the rug, but there are better ways of showing it than the way a couple of you did. it doesn't do anyone any good.

How many of our QBs have to get blind sided thanks to Gross before we start looking to replace him or move him to another side. And Gamble, whoever ranks these players like they do obviously has never watched him play. Terrible and with what he makes he should have an untouchable island out there.

    • Dude you're all over the place. Bryce definitely played better than average down the stretch last year. That's what I said. I dont think it's controversial, and I think it's true based both on stats and by actually watching him play. He was the 6th rated passer by PFF during the last 8 weeks. In no world is that below average You trying to twist this into something else is a you thing.  Have a great night
    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
