Madden 12 is awful..

Last year I finally stopped buying the game, and it felt great. $60 well kept. Rented the game instead and was glad I didn't buy it.

Same thing this year.

This year's version is terrible..

The "new and improved" presentation is nothing more than a few shots of the stadium prior to each game. There is no sports show, radio broadcast, half time show, anything. Nada. Zero. The menu screen for Franchise mode is the most bland piece of garbage I have ever seen in a video game of this tier. What happened to the old days of sports game where the menu screens had almost an RPG element to them? And of course, once again, EA didn't make use of the ESPN license, as they can't admit how far behind 2k they were.

I have to say the worst addition to the game this year is the new "traits" system, which allow each player to act like "himself" which sounds great in theory, but turns out to be the most infuriating feature of any Madden game. In other words, if the lone man who does the ratings at Madden deems my player "inconsistent" then by golly, he is going to throw passes anywhere he chooses, regardless of where I am trying to aim the ball.

Let me explain.

I had Jeremy Shockey running a mesh patten in front of me today. He had the linebacker beat by a good 3 yards. So, I, trying to make sure I got the first down, threw the ball at Shockey, and aimed it to be down and away from the defender to ensure he couldn't make a play on the ball.

INSTEAD, the LB stops exactly where he is, faces me, and Cam throws the ball right to him for an INT, nullifying any of the thought process that I had put into the throw.

It completely took the controller out of my hand for a pre-determined INT.. And this kind of thing happens on almost every play

.

In other words, unless you pick a select groups of QB's that the ratings "guru" has deemed worthy, you are stuck with a QB who is doomed to at least try to throw an INT every few passes or so. It may seem like an attempt at being "true to life," but all it does is take away the player's ability to play to the fullest extent of his ability-kinda like LameFlow last year, but now it's actually affecting gameplay.

*Sigh*

Oh well. :banghead:

I just miss the days of being excited for these football games and being rewarded for it. Instead I've spent all day screaming at my television. Sadly, there are loads of other pestering issues with the game (challenge system is still broken 8 years after they initially added it) but I just needed to vent my main problems. Hope you guys are enjoying it.

NCAA was very disappointing this year, I've already stopped playing it.

Isn't NCAA just last years Madden? I always felt it was.

EASports is just another example of 'they got too big to care' The last Madden I got was 07 same for Tiger Woods, weird that was when both games went downhill. or is it?

They stopped trying when they got the nfl exclusive license everyone knows that. ill never buy another madden ever.

Yep, after 2k disappeared EA quickly realized they could get away with changing the graphics, rosters, and one or two gameplay tweaks each year. Honestly, the content each new Madden adds could be provided each year in $30 content downloads.

So let me get this straight, you would be totally fine playing against the Colts, knocking Payton Manning out of the game and having Curtis Painter be no different than Payton Manning. PLease don't waste our time making a thread about why you hate Madden because every player doesn't play like Payton Manning, I loved 2k5 for what it was and what it could have become but don't sit there and tell me this bs.

On top of that you bring up "Consistency" as being a reason that you hate the game when EA has stated EVERY player has the same consistency rating.

Pretty sure every player has the same confidence, not consistency

    • It's your right to refer to it as vague, but it still flouts the theory of "zero evidence" that Tepper is changing. Here's another: "Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales and general manager Dan Morgan are reportedly being given a larger leadership role within the organization. Panthers owner David Tepper 'has taken a more hands-off approach of late,' according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler. 'He's trying to trust Canales and GM Dan Morgan to get it right, knowing that the roster requires patience in its current state,' Fowler wrote. 'We shall see if he holds to that.'" https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10146782-report-panthers-david-tepper-has-taken-a-more-hands-off-approach-to-team   ""David Tepper just wants to win and he's gonna supply everything that we need to win.. Things are changing around here and things are looking really positive" ~ Dan Morgan  https://x.com/PatMcAfeeShow/status/1917639137550627107?t=6vgo8yXTO6eD0Gb55hyzNg&s=19   From about 2:15-6:35, Julian Council, Locked on Panthers, gives his take on whether Tepper seems to be changing (and specifically referenced the war room in his analysis):    Dean Jones of Cat Crave on David Tepper in the war room. "He was an innocent bystander throughout a hugely important decision, placing full trust in Morgan and Tilis to make the right call." Jones also quoted Pat McAfee: "What I noticed though, at one point, they looked at (David) Tepper to get an answer, Tepper didn’t say sh*t. All anybody has said about Tepper is that he’s hands-on, hands-on, hands-on. Too handsy, too involved. He’s not letting the football people do their thing. We just watched in the biggest moment for their franchise, a top ten pick, he just sat there and let everybody do their jobs. I think if you’re a Panthers fan, you love everything you saw there." https://catcrave.com/silence-from-david-tepper-becomes-panthers-loudest-victory Granted, you're not getting a major headline here, but that's not going to happen anyway. Fowler isn't exactly a nobody, everybody knows McAfee, and you also have some locals that follow the team (including Dean Jones). Of course you have a right to believe that Tepper hasn't really changed, but to say there is no evidence that he just may be changing is not really true. It's just not. Hate the guy, but the way that he has handled this current regime is different than he handled previous teams, and his silence in the war room and publicly in general is different than years back.
    • Ehhh im not mad either way I don't think hes garbage but he was and is overpaid.... but he was a skating turnover machine.
    • My interpretation of his comments was somewhat different. And I took issue with his contract the day he signed. But it's all history now and doesn't matter in the big picture.
