Let's get it over with and cut EB and AE

Don't hate the player for being picked. At least not if they are putting in the effort. Aim your disgust at the FO for making such bone headed moves.

I'm an ASU grad and would have been fine with Armanti in the 5th + round. I don't "hate" him for being picked in the 3rd though.

AE is a player who has had one off-season with a lame-duck coach and an offensive coordinator that didn't know his playbook from a bucket of KFC chicken, and a shortened off-season, of only about a month, in a new special teams system, as well as a new offensive scheme. All the while translating from a QB to a WR.

It's funny that Clausen doesn't get that kind of pass....

This roster is pretty much set and the time for "cut him, sign them" is over. Each team is going to have to cut about 20 guys that don't work or won't work, there will be few gems in that bunch of rabble, and the pickings are even slimmer in the WR position in a league where the 5WR set is more and more common.

We may get another DE or DT who will be cut from another team due to scheme change that could start, but I wouldn't expect to get starter quality replacements at both positions out of the talent pool that will be available. A serviceable veteran that may have a year or two left in the tank would be our best bet to help coach up our defensive line, but you're not going to find that play maker that will "turn around" the glaring needs we have.

The sad but truthful fact is that we have too many needs to be addressed in one draft and free agent period. We are going to have a tough year this year and some of you are going to have to find your big boy jerseys and suck up another loosing year as we get better.

Personally, I'm investing in a case of mid shelf scotch and my trusty hip flask to see me through..

*sigh* Was listening to On the Beat about 40 minutes ago, and Steve Reed said "He's still a work in progress, but Armanti absolutely will make the roster."

Yeah... unfortunately, I posted this nice Tentative Apology thread to AE after game one. Then he let me down. A 2-year vet Punt Returner that fumbles balls in preseaon games is a bit more than a "Work in Progress". He's still a project. A project was very expensive to start, and needs to pay dividends fast.

Brown just needs to be sent down the road or converted into a LB.

Brown still can't pash rush, regardless if it's a 3-4 or a 4-3.. dude has to be able to avoid getting manhandled by blockers.. and unless he runs past the lines 20 yards and back 20 yards within 2 seconds, he'll continue to be ineffective.

he picked up 7 last year, I remember a few flashes from him that looked promising.. the style doesn't matter so much though if he still can't get around a lineman..
