Cam's Amazing Stats... Not Kidding

Is he a QUARTERBACK or a Running back? If he is a QB then passing stats are all that matters.

Yeah it was only one series but his passer rating was 112. Pretty good improvement from the week before.

And no passing isn't everything since he will run for 10 TDs as well this year. Cam is more than a mere quarterback. He is the 22 million dollar man!!!

What his running ability does is reduce the way that teams can blitz him. When Pittsburgh rushed 6 or 7 and he broke containment, he was wide open with virtually no one around him for 15 yards. When teams have to use spies on him and keep linebackers on him to keep him from running, it opens up the TEs and other guys like backs coming out into the flat. Teams will have to gameplan to stop him which makes other things more effective. If they keep 8 in the box it should keep folks from doubling Smitty. Imagine a reverse where Newton and the RB goes left along with the whole defense and then Smitty or Edwards does a reverse the other direction. The possibilities are endless.

Wait until he figures out that he can slide and run out of bounds, he will easily run for 1000 yards this year without even trying to do it just scrambling on broken plays.

Yup, this is the quandary that Cam presents to defenses... Rivera knew it and it's a big part of why they used the # 1 overall pick on him.

If you blitz Cam you better get him, or he'll gain 20 yards on you/end up one-on-one with your safety at the goal line.

Last night was another classic example of how Cam's athletic ability will get him by while he develops as a passer, just as long as he always looks to pass first.

He should have hit Smitty on that run he had, no doubt about it.

Those decisions could have a large impact later on in the season.

It had a large impact on that run where he crushed through and scored a td. . . it went POP! or maybe it was more of a . . SMACK! . . it was plenty big of an impact I think.

yeah, funny a Panther fan who watched Vick abuse us would say what he does as a runner doesn't matter.

He not only beat us but impacted how we built our roster and drafted.

Doesn't matter? Thomas Davis likely would never of been our roster if Mike Vick never existed.

Hell, doesn't anyone remember how Aaron Brooks abused us?

He should have run just like he did. Pocket collapsed, he saw his spot and took off by the time he saw Smitty he was already in running mode. He just gave everyone something else to ponder. Great decision and great result.

On third down you don't risk a guy dropping the pass when you have 20 yards in front of you and nobody there. You tuck it and go. That was much more of a sure result than a pass. Anyone could see that.

I see your point, but in that particular play, I don't fault him for running.. he was almost sacked if it wasn't for Stew getting over in time, and with 2 huge lanes and him still being a very raw rookie QB, it wasn't surprising for me to see him run.

Pocket didn't collapse, that's what a pocket in the NFL looks like. You must "step up in the pocket" to make throws.

Cam should know Smitty was coming right there as it looks like that was the whole play design, clear out the left and have Smith drag across.

Cam ran.

It doesn't matter. I don't care how you deliver the baby, just get it to me. Results are what matters, not the means used to get them.
