Saints fans put their knowledge on display...

Think they are honestly just starting to feel the pressue. Saints were irrelevant for quite some time, then shot to the top. Now though, they are getting older, Brees is getting older, and they already had Tampa and Atl in their face with their young franchise QBs. Now to see us get one-and for him to insanely impressive...Well, as I said, i think they know their time at the top is starting to dwindle. Window closing, if you will.

per saints report forum (thread about Wilbon comparing Cam to Jordan)

- It's easy to throw for a lot of yards when your team is getting killed.

-Meh. Stupid to say the least. Steve Smith may be small and old, but hes still one of those "throw it up and ill go get it" type of receivers that are rare in the NFL ( Randy Moss, Calvin Jonhson, and this new kid AJ Green might be one as well)

You give Cam Newton an average set of WR's like the saints, vikings, bucs, broncos, maybe raiders? And all this Cam Newton being great would go away. Hes good, but you have to remember that there running a QB friendly scheme in Carolina for the first time in years and he has Steve Smith to throw to.

Point being, praise should be going to Steve Smith and that OC far more then Newton, i watched him miss 15 yard throws to a wide open Greg Olsen in the end zone. So im not too impressed. But he is playing well.

When were we getting killed?

Neither Smith or Newton are responsible for our success on paper. Both have had their fair of stupid mistakes, and Smitty is no exception. Success is from all areas of the team. Some players play a bigger role in the success than others but people underestimate the small things in a team. It comes from the whole team.

Wait a second, I refuse to believe that even Saint fans are that stupid and deluded. Did you just pick the dumbest posts you could find, or were the other fans agreeing with these posts?

    • MORGAN ON PLAY CALLER FOR CANALES   "I think that's really his [Canales'] call," he stated. "I think if he wants to promote somebody into being the play-caller or bring somebody from the outside. We haven't really talked about that. But that is something that I'm sure we'll talk about. We talk about every decision together. If he feels like he needs to add somebody or promote somebody into being the play-caller, then I trust him."
    • Dude, he cannot see the field, when his feet are not set he throws ducks.   What the fug are you watching?
    • I'm looking at the final drive, and that's where I'm laying the blame at Bryce's feet. Stepping up to the line, 38 seconds left, 3 time outs on the clock. 30 yards needed to attempt a FG. It's not Bryce's job to call the plays, that's DC's and it was terrible play calling.  It's Bryce's job to read what the defense is giving him at the line. The middle of the field is open. Rams are guarding against the deep ball and bringing pressure leaving the middle of the field ripe for the taking. Knowing his line not holding up for long, Bryce should have read the defense, called the audible, and thrown to the middle of the field for 6- 8 yards, like you said, quick slants would have worked. Then run either hurry up or call a TO. We had time. He has to make the adjustments. Any QB has to make the adjustments.  The pass Horn dropped hit his hands but was at his knees. Should he have slid and caught it? Probably. Was the pass a good one? No it wasn't. Both players were at fault, not just Horn. Let's not pretend that Bryce threw a beautiful pass that hit the receiver chest high right in the hands in perfect stride because that damn sure wasn't the throw.  The defense didn't choke away a lead. They never had a real lead. Choking away a lead is being up by multiple scores late in the 4th and losing. We were up by 4 and handed the ball back to a potential MVP with an All pro WR and potential future HoF WR2. One score games in the 4th are a slug fest. 28-3. That's choking away a lead.  I don't solely blame Bryce for the game, but you seem to solely blame the defense for the game because they went to prevent after losing Horn. You are forgetting the short field that the offense left them that led to the early Puka TD on one of our 2 failed 4th down conversions. Our defense has been given very limited resources over the past 3 years while we have tried to put everything possible around Bryce. We added a little bit to the D this year after giving up a NFL record in points last year. Our defense overachieved based on what they've been given to work with.
