Cutler or Newton? Who would you rather have? Per espn.

It's way to early to anoint Cam Newton as a star. That is just reality, even though I am and have been a big supporter of his.

However, not only would I rather have Cam, I would rather have probably 20 to 25 other NFL QB's than Jay Cutler. He has a great arm, and when he is on he is capable of putting up big numbers, but I don't like him as a leader or teammate. His body language and facial expressions are very negative, and he is not at all above throwing his teammates under the bus. Just this week when asked if he had confidence in his o-line, his answer was "I don't have any choice". That is not the kind of answer that is going to make his team rally around him.

If Chicago fans prefer him, that's fine. They can keep him.

Lol @ ESPN Chicago.. First and 10 did a seg on this very topic which was discussed here. Obviously, its a no brainer for me, but I always liked Cutler. The trade has been terrible for his career, and he and MM are a terrible fit.

Cutler would probably look like a beast playing in our offense, even though some of the concepts are similar we seem to be way more of a vertical attack.

He also has nobody to throw to.. He needed a WR and they go get fuggin Roy Williams. If I were him I'd Carson Palmer that poo(thats sarcasm for u slow fugs)

I would agree that Cutler is in the wrong offense but really I don't like Mike Martz's offense. He never max protects even on blitzes expecting the Qb to get it out hot everytime. But he gets mad when Cutler throws a pick which is inevitable if he is getting blown up too often. And he doesn't know what a running game should look like. I imagine Cutler would be better off here. Given I am fine looking toward the future, I would still take Newton for the longterm although Cutler has a world more experience.

I agree. Cutler gets a lot of poo but Martz is a fuging moron and probably contributes quite a bit to his issues.

This weeks hot button topic.

If this has been posted already. Please ignore then.

I'd go with Newton, over Cutler.

The question ESPN was asking was from a Bears perspective:

Who would you rather have right now as Bears quarterback?

I'm not a Bears fan; however I am a fan of both Jay and Cam.

From a Bears perspective I would want Cam because Cam is more mobile.

But, as a Cam Newton fan Mike Martz would ruin his development and his career because of the terrible pass protection schemes and lack of talent at both OL and WR.

To answer the general question I think Jay has already proven that he can be a top QB in the NFL with the right pieces around him.

Right now it seems that Newton projects to be a top QB in the NFL.

Based on raw talent Newton is more talented though.

I am not so sure that Cutler has proven that he can be a top QB in the NFL. Yes, he has put up some nubmers in Denver. However, he has NEVER been a winner....not in college and not in the NFL.

His personality, decision making, and leadership are what I question....not the strength of his arm.

its funny that one person in the linked discussion was supposed to be pro newton/anti cutler and the other was supposed to be anti newton/pro cutler but nether of them seemed to like cutler.

the anti newton one basically said newton wouldn't succeed there like he has here so far because...

But Newton, oddly, is also in a better situation at Carolina than Cutler. Newton has a pair of 1,000-yard rushers, tight ends Jeremy Shockey and former Bear Greg Olsen, who caught the go-ahead touchdown pass Sunday, Steve Smith at wide receiver, a solid offensive line and Warren Moon as a mentor.

If Newton was with the Bears under Mike Martz, behind a shaky offensive line and with no elite receivers, his odds of injury and flameout automatically go up. And knowing the Bears, the character gamble would blow up as well.

i don't know...it seems like she's saying that the panthers have better team.

am i wrong?
