Our run d suckage not the DT's fault

Anybody who believes differently is not paying attention. Week in and week out the big runs are going to the outside and many still want to blame the DT's and it's quite sickening to see you guys really believe it's on them.

Our linebackers, safeties and ends are getting gobbled up by fb's,t.e' s and other times just flat out whiff or unable to bring the rb down with solid tackling.

yeah our backers are getting engulfed by blockers because nobody worries about stopping our DTs, guards are consistently getting to the 2nd level which is always a disaster when you're trying to stop the run

it's at least partially their fault, though we need some serious help at OLB as well

I think it is both the DTs and LBers fault at this point. Blame both groups. BTW it ain't the secondary job to stop the run unless need to as a last line of defense. So it is the fault of the DTs and LBers. DTs are just get pushed around and not even trying and our LBers are just to slow. But the thing is the DTs are more to blame the the LBers tho. DTs must get in the holes and stuff the run. But if our DTs don't command double team all the time. The oline ends up getting to the second level and blocking our LBers and making them useless. So more blame goes to the DT then the LBers. But both groups overall deserve the blame.

When interior linemen are 5+ yards up field bulldozing LBs it probably means your DTs are not very good.

Do you have a DVR? Please tell me when this happened? I can tell you numerous times when linebackers and safeties and defensive ends totally missed tackles or failed to bring down the rb and had nothing to do with interior lineman gobbling them up.

    • You are right--it was DC.  I remember talking to him at Belk in Albemarle one day--the Panthers were on a bye and they were (at the time) a disapointing 4-4.  I mentioned that the record was disappointing and he seemed to get a bit annoyed.  He dId not say anything.  I trying to suggest that we will get better, but I think he was pretty upset about it.  No hard feelings, but the man was simply trying to shop with his wife and this annoying jerk starts making comments about his job---I get it.  I apologized, telling him that I was trying to be supportive and not critical--he did not think it was a big deal.  I'd see him at events from time to time-he'd wave or say hi, but it was awkward for me.  Figured I would say something stupid.  Jordan was pretty popular--nothing like she seems to be now--she is holding her own in a man's world...proud of her.
    • Like we have had the last 3 years.
    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
