Full pads in practice today

Hurt the injury statistic obviously. Plenty of players early in the season were getting hurt because they were not in "football shape" and some players on certain teams are still on IR because the lockout kept them from seeing their team's medical staff. The limit on the number of padded practices is a good change imo. It will allow players to play for 2 or 3 seasons longer than they would have otherwise (because of limiting physical damage to bodies etc).

Are you saying you think the lockout helps that statistic or hurts it?

I guess either way you would be right.

I think injuries might be up this year...or the norm for the Panthers. :o

Teams are just now getting into football shape. You can tell by how defenses are much better now than at the beginning of the season. Seems the only team that is still scoring 30+ every game is GB.

Well yea the Panthers always seem to have major injuries no matter what, but I see what you mean.

I guess the rules are supposed to lessen injuries in training camp when there is a full offseason with OTAs and the workouts etc.

I just wonder if in the long run it would lead to more or less during the regular season. I guess the biggest impact this year is the readiness of some players.

Protecting the players is good but 14 padded practices for a 16 game season is dumb.

    • After watching Dan for 3 yrs now, I think I understand his plan. It’s a simple plan that should work for the long run.     I saw some of this last yr. Dan wants a vet and a young player at each position. I really think we go OT if one they like there. Moton is aging, Icky will not be back until 27, if ever. We need to get ahead of the tackle problem
    • You are just stressing too much about these particular positions. You want to upgrade from Bryce and I understand that but you aren’t going to really get that without getting into a bidding war for a QB2 potential QB1 like Willis. You could possibly trade for Mills or the backup for Chicago but they are still gambles and their teams will won’t decent picks.  Again the Eagles thought KP was a capable enough backup to trade for him once their backup was hurt and won a Super Bowl with him as QB2. The point is most teams aren’t rolling with some stud QB2/3 that is going to push even a bottom tier starter. They are better off the building their roster in other areas. The Rams are rolling with Bennett right now as QB2 for example.  The goal is winning absolutely. We overachieved last year even with stumbling into the playoffs. Another year and this staff needs to take the next step in building a team. Will Grier has little to no impact on that….
    • Three straight first round WRs is straight up Matt Millen poo. Considering the draft capital we have tied up on Bryce after that trade we would basically have spent damn near all of our draft capital in recent years on QB and WR just to put one of the most anemic passing offenses in the league on the field. Clown show poo.
