DAMN YOU CAM NEWTON!! (for allowing the lions to score 7 TDs)

During Rothlisburger's rookie year the Steelers tried to limit his pass attempts and lean on the run. Matt Ryan and Mark Sanchez also were told to manage the game and hand off to Turner/Greene. We tell our guy to air it out like Dan Fouts. Some of this vitriol towards Newton should be directed to the coaching staff.

I agree. I had a bad feeling when Rivera said he wished he had more Cam Newtons that Cam was going to be compensating for the weakness of the offense. I wonder if the coaches seriously don't trust anyone on the offense whose isn't named Cam, Smithy, Olsen or Schokley? And if they rather take their chances with have Cam throw the ball than the running game against a defense like the Lions after what happened with the Titans?

Honestly, if u an avid football watcher, u would know that this is the time where the defense NEED to step up their game if they haven't already. This time last year, it was GB defense that took the team all the way to the SuperBowl not their offense because no one knew how Rodgers was going to play after his return from his injury. Two defensively strong teams played in the SB this year.

Noticed the Bills have started to regress? The offense was kicking butt in the beginning of the season.

Do you think our defensive talent could step up in comparison to the Packers d talent of last year ? Good God, give me a call. I need some of the peyote you are ingesting.

Most of us who wanted to start Matt Moore weren't thinking to do it to tank to get andrew luck at all. I can only speak for the handful of people who didn't want to go QB first but wanted to go D instead... I was hoping our defense would be good enough with good drafting and FA pickups, and with a new system, Moore could win us some games. I was thinking if we still needed a QB next year, and if we ended up in position to draft one, we could get a guy next year (didn't expect it'd be Luck tho), but that was because I didn't think Cam was anywhere close to as good as he actually is. I readily admit I was wrong.

I'm glad we drafted Cam. I have no idea how it would have turned out had we gone "with my plan" or whatever, but I'm very happy with what he's done and what he can bring to this team in the future. I still wish we'd done more to help this defense than what we did, but they couldn't have predicted the injuries to our LBs.

I'm frustrated at losses this year because I expected our problem to be offense, not defense, if we started a rookie QB. But it's been defense... and that's frustrating after having gone so many seasons with at least an average D here.

The defense looked better because we were playing Foxball.

Cam threw 4 picks today and missed open receiver time after time after time. Didn't exactly do his part.

He has regressed, and I'm very, very concerned.

1-He's a rookie

2-Teams adjust and game plan

3-He would benefit from a consistent running game to take pressure off him

Lets not freak out here. How about his ability to escape and make plays with his feet. He needs a full off season to develop his passing. It will come.

Like Will Ferrell in Old School said..

"We gotta keep our composure!!!"

11td and 14ints? newton should flash that #1 less in the endzone and stop turning the ball over.

oh wait...he's an icon though

So what QB on our roster last year (or this year) or what QB available in the draft do you think would have us winning games...or even being competitive....

Sure, they helped...

but keep in mind that only 1 TD came after an interception, and that Cam tied the game at 35 when he'd thrown a total of two interceptions. The defense gave that tie up, then his next 2 INTs came.

Cam did not play well, Cam was part of our loss, but defense really let us down today.

People who listen to Mav (except pre-draft ;)) will be wiser people.

Truth is that at least 3/4's of Cam's INTs weren't his fault. And even with the INTs he did enough to win the game. We shouldn't even be talking about Newton right now. The defense got their ass handed to them and Rivera and McDermott aren't cutting it. Chud also didn't help out with some of the calls he made today.

    • Biiiiiig eyeroll on this.  First, Look at historical stats of the most recent historical great DBs.  I plucked 3, Revis, Sherman, and Norman (cuzz he was our guy).  Combined post age 30, there are TWO pro bowls between those 3 and wanna get this...ZERO seasons with 16 games started.  ALL missed time.  It is RARE that Corners survive that long in the NFL and its about time we started recognizing this fact.  Jaycee is a good bet because it hasnt been anything seriously devastating injury wise, and with his sample size he could and should be an incredible piece for the panthers through age 30. Jaire kinda flops on the other side, hes 28...so hes under 30, but he wants his payday before it comes up, hes also been injury prone lately.  Bulk of the contract will be on opposite side of 30.  Will both of these guys help us be better in 2026?  SURE!  No doubt, but the question is, will these guys help us past 2026...not sure. The investment isnt worth the risk, nor would the ROI be anywhere close to worth it.  Neither guy is moving us from a 6-8 win team to a 8-10 team, period. My point is we're in this state a 6-8 win team IMO and he projects us as  a 4-6 win team.  EVEN if we think Jaire or Ramsey will make us a 6-8 win team, it in NO WAY is worth the money or capital to move that much just to suck kinda less.
    • I assumed he was retiring but apparently he plans on playing multiple more seasons.  Florida is gonna have trouble holding onto everyone.  Happens to all teams that have that much success.
    • I hate Marchand, but if he became a free agent.....
