Interceptions

stupid trying to find the "one stat that matters" unless it's the score at the end.

there is no one stat that tells the whole story other than that.

anyone trying to find the one reason why we won or lost a game(s) is going to be wrong because there is no one reason. there's always quite a few reasons and to all those who chalk that up to giving excuses...meh. you're wrong to.

it's obviously the jerseys dude... we've already established this.

So the only way the Panthers can win is if they do not turn the ball over 1 time? That just tells you how bad our defense is.

yep. Cam has to be perfect. Kinda the point I was making but got derailed. So new title should be, Carolina is 4-1 when offense is perfect.

no poo. it's why the broncos are so much better now with The Golden Calf of Bristol- he doesn't throw interceptions.

Based on this, and every post you made yesterday, I feel pretty safe in assuming that you are a Grits alt. It figures that you'd be too much of a pussy to show your face after a good game by Cam.

Why are interceptions worse than fumbles?

There are more interceptions than fumbles. And interceptions have a greater chance of turning into a long return or a pick 6 for the opponent. But it really depends on where it happens. A deep throw that is picked off and the defender is immediately tackled is certainly not as bad as a lost fumble behind the line of scrimage.

say hi to offensive efficiency.

- Cam Newton DOESN'T have to be perfect to win a game.

- We have won 4 games and Cam was nowhere near perfect.

- The reason we are 4-0 when Cam doesn't turn over the ball is because we are incredibly inefficient.

-We're too inefficient to afford more than 1 fumble or interception and still win.

-Offensive efficiency measures all turnovers. Which is why it's a more accurate measurement than even turnover margin(turnover margin doesn't include turnovers on downs. stalled drives and punts, 3 and outs are just as costly as picks or fumbles).

-A negative turnover margin of 1 is a deal breaker for most teams, not just the Panthers.

If we play more efficiently we can afford an interception and fumble and still win. For example we could have against the Bucs. One mistake would have not cost us that game.

People exaggerate tremendously when they say Cam has to be perfect to win when in reality simply playing average or good is all we needed most of the time. Even The Green Bay Packers who have an unbeaten record and Aaron Rodgers are not perfect. Even they are beatable. There is room for improvement even there. But if you want to be average or good, as a rule of thumb you should probably shoot for perfection in the first place.

Some of you are becoming seriously annoying with this damage control. Your quarterback has the most responsibility. That goes for every team. Their play has a larger affect on the team than any other position in football. You have lost touch with reality due to this behavior of believing he's excused from any responsibility in our losses and blaming it on other sides of the team. He's not excused, he's MOST responsible. As most quarterbacks are. It comes with the territory.

Did you also know we are 4-0 if the defense gives up 20 or less points? That's the only stat that matters...

That would also indicated the defense allows less than 20 points when Cam Newton doesn't turn over the ball. Turnovers come before the final points scored or allowed.

That's kind of your clue there.

Cause and effect.

Turnovers: cause.

Points scored/allowed: effect.
