Raheem Morris's comments in the postgame press conference.

Not sure if this is posted anywhere:

Quote of the Week III

"I can take getting beat by a better football team. I wish they were.''

-- Tampa Bay coach Raheem Morris, on the Carolina Panthers.

Hmmm. Panthers beat the Bucs by 19. Panthers outgained the Bucs by 100 yards. Josh Freeman was sitting with an injury, yes. But I wonder how Ron Rivera's going to take being demeaned like that after a 38-19 road victory ... particularly with the Bucs visiting Charlotte in 19 days.

One more note: Carolina and Tampa Bay are 4-8, and the Panthers, by virtue of the tiebreaker, are in third place in the NFC South. The Bucs are dead last.

That quote's the definition of bulletin-board material for Carolina.

The whole press conference is posted here:http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2011120407/2011/REG13/panthers@buccaneers#tab=recap&recap=quicktake&menu=highlights (might need to find it in the menu on the right)

You wish they were the better team? Dude, you just got creamed in your creamsicle uniforms AT HOME. Raheem...been nice knowing you. Wonder who the Bucs will hire next year?

While the Rex Ryan approach isn't a good one in my opinion, I don't think they fire him this year. The players all love playing for him and he's young and energetic. But hell, maybe coach's have a shorter leash these days, so I could be wrong.

As for that comment he made, I was a little pissed when I read that too. I guess people are STILL having a tough time coming to grips with the fact that the Panthers are a 100% different team in almost every aspect than last year...

I typically stay clear of post game trash talk, because i don't think it's classy unless the opposing team was going overboard prior to the game.

But now I can't wait until Christmas Eve. We're gonna slaughter you again Raheem and put an end to your miserable little coaching career.

Didnt they show a stat during the game that Cam had more yards than the entire Tampa offense? It was during the 3rd qtr IIRC... But, yea..its too bad we're not a better team than the Buc's...

In this league, youre only as good as your last game, and Raheem? Your last game you gots your asses whooped...

bucs fans want him gone... he can't really handle both HC and DC... not to mention he lets his OC do an end around on 3rd and short. pretty awful. sent price home for unsportsmanlike but didnt do it to talib in the london game? doesn't make sense. you never know with the glazers though. theyre pretty lazy and more focused on soccer. dominik seems like a good GM who can grab good talent (freeman, penn, joseph, mike williams, the young DL, foster, etc) but the coaching just isnt getting it done.

but anyway yeah i hope we beat their asses again lol. wonder if rivera will field a question about it this week and how his response will be.

Damn, is everyone on this board marginally deaf? Between Smitty's yelling and Raheem's presser you guys have serious hearing issues (and SI fugged up the transcript.)

He said "Which they were, make no mistake about that."

In what context does "make no mistake about that" work if he said "I wish they were?"

    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
    • I said this ALL last season and will say it again this year. Our record means diddly squat this year, I don't care if we have 0 wins or 17 wins, I only care about one thing and one thing only. Bryce proves without a shadow of a doubt that he IS or ISN'T our long term solution at QB. It's the only thing that matters for the same reason it sucks that this is the same thing as last year.  This needs to be determined, and if they can't determine it, then it's still telling the team the answer, just not the one they want to hear. As right now we're in the ultimate QB purgatory, a position that dooms franchises for years.  Just look at a team like the Cardinals, who extended a better QB and it still screwed them over and haven't had a contending team in a long time. People get too caught up on wins and losses when evaluating players, particularly QBs.  When people look at the final record and use that as a reason to want to extend a QB or not is just a fools errand.  If we had lost 2-3 more games last year because we didn't make a last second FG, I genuinely wonder if we would have just moved on from Bryce this offseason (like we should have been doing anyways IMHO).
