Keep or Sell?

My 2000 Honda Accord LX is a great car. It gets awesome gas mileage, is somewhat fun to drive thanks to the stickshift, and is pretty peppy for a 4-cylinder. Still going strong at 151k miles. However, the paint on the top and the trunk lid is badly oxidizing, and it's becoming embarrassing to look at. The car is a forest green color, so the oxidation really sticks out. Is it worth repainting the whole top section and trunk lid (which takes a lot of time and $$), or should I take my losses and sell it?

What losses? It's a 2000 and I'm sure it's long since paid for, so there are no losses...

...except you will have to buy another car, which could mean payments, which means debt... which means losses.

Seriously, there are Maaco's and whatever else out there that will do a paint job for $400-500 or so. Or, there's always the DIY paint job:

Th e question is do you have children that will be driving soon, or nieces or nephews? If you have children of your own, paint it and keep it until they are ready to drive, then give it to them. If you have nieces or nephews, don't paint it , and sell it to them really cheap for a down payment on a newer car.

Just a couple of suggestions. Or you could go with Anybody Home's idea and paint it like this:
