Has Newton surpassed Delhomme as your favorite Panther QB?

In the last few years of his career I had to watch Delhomme through my fingers, you just knew that eventually something bad was going to happen. A lot of time you could see it coming. When a player blitzed from Jake's blindside, you just knew he was going to fumble every time.

Yep every time. I'm still deciding where to put Cam but he will be the best QB the panthers have ever had that's a fact.

Delhomme was a good QB for a breif time. He peaked in 2006 and then I believe his head wasn't in the game anymore. I don't think it was just the Tommy John that messed him up. It was like he stopped perfecting himself. He always let his emotions take over his play and his field vision went to hell.

Steve Smith might have spoiled him.

I don't know....post Tommy John Jake makes us forget about the magic pre Tommy John Jake had.
even then he caused me a good number of coronaries. i had a feeling and a hope that jake was going to be able to turn things around....that they rajun cajun was going to get everyone fired up and things would turn around. i had a feeling and a hope that there was going to be some miraculous play that would turn things around at the last minute (or in the case of the san diego game, at the last second) but that didn't happen consistently and that feeling/hope had more to do with jake's personality and infectious will to overcome and win than his skill set.

pre-tommy john surgery he had just enough talent to not get in the way of his ambition and confidence that enabled him to do those things. post-tommy john his skill dwindled as did his confidence level.

with cam, from watching him at auburn when things leveled out for him the last 2/3 of the season i saw that infectious will to overcome and win that got the rest of the team fired up. he has that confidence in himself that spreads to the rest of the team and he has that attitude that jake did when the chips are down. for most of the season it's been hidden as he's just been focusing on himself and trying to make himself better. he's been trying to give himself a reason to be confident in his abilities, but i think he's found it, or at least most of it. it will be there in spades next year.

what cam has that jake didn't, though, is immense talent to go along with his passion and attitude. that's where my confidence is coming from. with jake i was more or less blindly hoping for a miracle...usually with my eyes closed and fist clinched and me saying "please please let this be a 'good jake' throw." with cam's abilities, i keep my eyes wide open.
