David DeCastro

The best thing about getting DeCastro is it would allow us to cut Wharton, along with his cap figure.

Cutting Wharton and signing DeCastro would only save us maybe $2 million a year under the cap. Probably much less, as we will probably re-do Wharton this offseason.

We may release Travelle, but I don't expect it. Nonetheless, the cap savings for DeCastro vs. Wharton is not a real good reason for the pick.

DeCastro > Wharton and on top of that comes the 2 mil. But with that the gap between a DeCastro and a Wharton or Hangman etc is not nearly as big as between a Brockers and Fua and co.

I am a big "the artist formerly knowned as The Dude" fan and he graded out as a really good G before the end of last season. Oh and whoever said that Bell is more talented than Wharton, dont do drugs :)

hate to break it to you guys but this whole "BPA" thing you guys obsess over is bullshit. Most likely you're basing it off of consensus draftnik opinion anyway which is not accurate, and in this specific case, there's only so much an elite guard offers, and it's not enough to warrant a top ten pick

usually when we stick to drafting for need it pays off nicely. Cam Newton, Jon Beason, Chris Gamble were all picks that fit a need. Jimmy Clausen, Everette Brown, and Dwayne Jarrett were all consensus BPAs when we took them according to those draftniks you guys like so much.

BPA should only go so far. If the BPA was a QB at our position would you take him? No, it's not the BPA, but the person who best fits the team needs. BPA would be Richardson, but we don't need him. We NEED a DL that can disrupt the passer and a quality secondary.
