Backup QB - Brady Quinn?

Based on this article, Quinn made some less-than-flattering remarks about The Golden Calf of Bristol in a recent interview. The Broncos will look to upgrade at QB, even with The Golden Calf of Bristol's success last year, and Brady Quinn could very well be looking for a new team. Derek Anderson is a free agent and there's no guarantee he'll be back. Jimmy Clausen is still under contract but all bets are off on him.

Quinn had two years under Rob Chudzinksi in Cleveland. I consider him a lot like Clausen though...a highly touted Notre Dame prospect who couldn't handle the NFL. But he hasn't gotten much playing time, not even as much as Clausen. He could come cheaper than Anderson and could bring good competition to training camp.

I'm not advocating he be the backup...but he might be someone the Panthers look at.

      I'm not to sure it's a solid argument to try to estimate what he will do this season, BUT he's had a solid 3 years in the league. Here's his numbers compared to Jewell's for the same time period. I can see the logic of getting a starting MLB for a (at best) WR4. AT, XL and Tmac are certainly our top 3 guys IN 2025. Certainly worth pondering.

      Honestly, it only makes sense if you're trying to chase being the best bad team you can be this year. The number one question we need answered this season is whether or not Bryce is our long-term franchise QB. Trading away a second year WR who was second on the team in catch percentage, first in yards per target, and who clearly outplayed your 1st round pick for a likely one year rental fill in LB is exactly the type of short sighted desperation moves that has made us the worst franchise in the league under Tepper. We gotta stop making these types of moves and just focus on building a good organization and a good roster. Lloyd is a JAG LB another bad team and awful defense is wavering on and a couple of Panthers fans are salivating over him. Oof. We just need to be patient and wait. Definitely make some calls around the league to teams deep at LB and see if there's an opportunity to add one for a late round pick. Definitely shop the waiver wire hard. The reality is that LB is almost certainly going to be a weakness for us this year. We weren't fixing our entire roster in one off-season and we're not fixing an overall weak positional group in late July.  If you trade for Lloyd LB is still a weakness and you've given up a young promising WR who could potentially help you answer the question of whether or not Bryce is that guy. That's bad football business.
