That is what people said about drafting Cam at QB last year. QB was such a glaring hole that need factored in.

DL is at that point.

well if it's any consultation, I wasn't thrilled with the Cam pick LY and look how that turned out. I'll be buying a Cam jersey this fall.

DTS are different though, you can bring fat guys in off the street that can be successful. Especially with the linebackers we have.

added to OP...

Damn, before reading that I had imagined Rivera seeing Tucker as player who worked well in his system and that his experience in said system would prove advantageous towards the development of our new system and young players. But after reading that it just sounds like Rivera really is just doing some lazy copy/pasta from his old team for cheap. :/

false, pencil mustache. (It was the University of Richmond)

All joking aside, OL and CB are a much bigger need.

Speculation that Wharton will be cut. Gross is not the player he once was and gets abused by younger ends. Otah has a huge vagina. We gotta protect Cam.

It's a passing league now, and if we have Captain as the other starter next year, I'd expect to be around the bottom of the league in passing defense. Captain is a good football player but he isn't a starter. We all know this, some have trouble admitting it.

Just to keep it all in perspective this time last year the consensus #1 pick for us was Fairly or Bowers.

Teehee! Pencil mustache! This guy! Tell us some more Mel Kiper. :conehead:

don't need to draft Oline in the first round the next 5 years to do that

the big difference between this year and last year was that our offense was ranked 32nd in 2010 and now our defense is ranked 32nd

OT is at a premium this draft. DT is not. I don't like the idea of drafting a sophomore DT with a large ceiling. He's not polished and IMHO he benefited tremendously from playing on one of the best college defenses of all time.

you just totally contradicted yourself, or you don't fully understand my comment.

First, any Tom, Dick, or Harry can make a mock draft. Sure they are fun to read, but offer very little in regards to integrity. I usually stick with the big boys like NFP. They, along with ESPN, had us picking Fairly w/ the #1 overall pick and for a couple weeks it was Bowers. Obviously, that changed as we got closer to the draft.

Obviously, Kiper/McShay/NFP/PFT have their own opinions and do there best to project but they don't know what teams are thinking and as of now these mocks are all we have to go on.

First of all, um OT is pretty deep this year, probably one of the deepest positions in the draft, and most teams with good lines don't have 2 first round picks bookending their OL. Unless Kalil falls that far (he won't) it's pretty frivolous to invest more heavily into an already talented line.

I don't know why people worry so much about Cam getting injured in the pocket where pass rushers have to really treat him like fine china in order to not get a 15 yard roughness penalty, when hypothetically he could not register one sack on his stats (because of a great line and his mobility), and still get hit/tackled more than any other QB just because of his style of play (he can tuck and run).

who on LSU's front seven do you think is better than Brockers

I don't really give credence to any mock draft. If he returned as a Junior, Brockers would probably be drafted in the top 3. I don't think the hype with him is more related to Fairley because I don't think it's a DT thing. People wanted us to draft Fairley last year (and in some mock draft you could see us taking either him, Peterson, or Bowers) because they thought it was the safe pick. Shortly before the draft, we found out Bowers would be a huge risk based on his knee problems, and a year later, Peterson was a great prospect but a terrible rookie CB, and Fairley had a really underwhelming rookie season, partly due to injury.

This year the DeCastro/Reiff camp is comprised of the people who want the safe pick.
