Think about it, Both men are physically towering of other players of their size and on the team.

Cam beasted mainly because of his size and skills

Poe will beast mainly because of his size and skills.

Cam plays the most important part on offense

Poe plays the (arguably)most important part on defense.

can yall ninjas put 1 and 1 together?:D:D

sorry i just :sifone:

Look at franchise tenders for each position. DTs command less than corners and ends because contrary to poular bellief on here its not the most important position on D. Especially a 4-3 defense

The only problem is that neither Poe nor Brockers did much beasting in college.

Cam Newton was hands down the best player in college football the year he declared. Brockers wasn't even the best player on his own defense. Poe was, but then again, there wasn't another D1 caliber player on that D.

Both are intriguing prospects, but nothing like Newton was - hence why we're talking about them as possibilities at #9 or lower, not #1 overall.

Importance has nothing to do with it. It is simply an average of the top 5 five salaries at that position over the past 5 years. If a few teams each year way overpay for corners then their number goes up. If you had said that corners and ends are in more glamorous positions and there are more perceived superstars at those positions who demand big bucks then I would agree. You could argue that the middle linebacker is the most important position on the field especially in a 4-3 since they take all the signals and control the defense. But the franchise tag for linebackers is less than corners and DEs. Does that mean they are less important or less well paid.

I would say to this point, as a prospect, Brockers is more like Cam. Brockers flashed on the field and didn't have a great combine, much like Cam. Poe didn't flash on the field and had a great combine.

Im talking size factor. 6'5 Tree fitty pounds, thats a real big dt. Cams 6'5 245 dats a real big qb

Did you ever play an organized game of football? Like with pads and referees?

Having a stud dt is like starting your muscle.car build with a huge v8 engine. Once you get your monster installed, the headers(d ends), intake(linebackers) and exhaust(d backs) will make your car faster and run better than just the engine alone.

Add intake header exhaust to a v6 and your wasting your time.

Nice analogy huh?

    • First, am I wrong? I looked back over all his posts here and I didn't see anything positive other than Shough. Second, pretty sure if you had read the post I was responding to, you would have seen CRA made poo personal as well . You just choose to address me instead of him. Not sure why?????
    • I wanted XL but I felt he should have been a 2nd rounder but I understand the logic trading up just to get the option. A safety net for your gamble.    Certainly disappointed with his receivers development but i like his down field blocking and I imagine that's what's keeping him on the field.
    • Pretty sure it is a given Young lacks typical QB size and strength and he is here simply because his other attributes more than make up for it. My point is not to indicate anyone "settled" for him but rather to remind people that there have been plenty of big, strong QB's that have not lived up to expectations. Jamis Winston, Anthony Richardson, Trey Lance, JaMarcus Russel are a few examples. They all have the physical attributes coveted by teams and yet none have had sustained success in the NFL. And yes, there are QBs that do have both but there aren't many and some of the ones still playing were failures with their early teams. Saying Young is a bust simply based upon his size (and I do think it is as simple as that for a few guys around here) is unfair to both him and the team.
