If I'm Indy...

I'd take the quarterback that I thought was elite. To hell with the extra picks. If we had gotten something like Dareus, Gabbert, and Jabaal Sheard last year with some more picks coming, I would feel a lot worse about this team than I do now with just Cam.

A great quarterback is just too important for a franchise.

...and who would you draft to play QB since Peyton is gone and they cut Painter?

I don't think you have to throw in the "they cut Painter" he seems to be as bad as anybody in the league. But yeah, the point remains that a lot of picks are great, but you're just killing time until you get a great quarterback.

I trade the #1 pick for 4 1sts and 2 2nds

No way..... if I am Indy, I am staying put no matter what. UNLESS you feel Luck is gonna be a bust. Otherwise you stay right there and get your guy. We all had this same conversation last year and I felt the same way, and now we have our Franchise QB and he is worth way more than 4 1st and 2 2nds... in my opinion at least

The beauty of the situation is, since the rookie contract payscale came into place last year, they won't have to give up the rights to the stadium just to sign the kid. Can you imagine how big a contract this guy would have if the payscale didn't come into play, or even Cam for that matter?

and they'd still suck and be left with inferior options to build around at QB for years.

it sounds attractive but teams that trade down for a ton of picks like that rarely do well afterwards.

it seems on the surface like a bold and shrewd management move, but it turns out to be a putz move and they usually show how badly run they are.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
