Meeks is in control of Defense

With our first two picks of the 2009 NFL Draft, I think it is safe to assume that meeks has 100 percent full control of the defense. These are not plays Fox and Trgovac would have drafted. This is a good thing for us. Fox's defensive scheme is outdated and preditable. We added a good Pass rushing DE who will need some work on the run game compared to Freeney. And a saftey/nickel corner being compared to saftey on the colts

We will some more of the same tommorow adding depth to the lines and some BPA"S.

With Meeks running the D we will be a top 10 if not top 5 D

I don't see the logic in this.

Fox is a great NFL coach. Why is it just assumed that because the defense looks to be making some changes that Fox had to totally give up the defense to Meeks and only Meeks would make these picks? Fox was known to run a lot of cover 2 early on, even verging on a Tampa 2 scheme. If anything I would say these picks along with Fox hiring Meeks show that Fox is the one making the changes and Meeks was brought in for his knowledge of the scheme and the fact that Fox would trust Meeks with the defense under his supervision.

Everette Brown is going to be a STUD pass rusher. There is no doubt in my mind that this kid is going to be one of the best pass rushers in the league in the next 3-5 years. I don't know what we are going to do with Pep and I know that he is a freak yada yada yada. But I am not concerned at all with the DEs we have now. If Pep ends up leaving next year then Brown will be ready to step in and take his place.

This is a very good football player and an even better person...very active in the community already and to me that shows a commitment to excellence which IMO is something that is way undervalued as opposed to pure physical skills.

I just watched a few minutes of him and he put the "Freeney spin move" on a VT OT...same dimensions (a little taller) and same playing style as DF. We got ourselves a good one this year.

We will pick up a DT tomorrow but I think the rest of the picks will be offensive. But I agree Fox is listening to Meeks. If fox was doing it we would have taken a DT first.

I say we draft 2 DT.

What the hell is up with the dolphins avatar? Just because they drafted your boy Pat White?

I don't know, I still have a strong feeling that we are gonna pick up Dwayne Robertson, I think that has been part of the plan all along, just waiting for cap room.

    • You’re playing madden we’re talking real football stuff…. He does have you seen his special on internet he def thinks he’s getting paid
    • Without the team having an identity kinda hard to predict what they value.  They either are really trying to build a balanced team, or preparing for another swing at qb if Bryce doesn’t pan out. Seems like we value the o line but the $ spent there has been underwhelming besides Lewis, you could say it’s because of injuries but still hasn’t been worth the investment. as already stated, the whole handling of Bryce young as a whole has been ass backwards, we spent the years we’re supposed to take advantage of having a qb with a lower cap hit, building the team up to be adequate. now It appears, key word appears, the saints have done it correctly, which is painful to even think about. Regardless, I hope the front office has paid attention to qb contracts recently, such as Tua, Kyler, Daniel jones(pre colts) and don’t settle for subpar qb play at franchise qb rates
    • This is the flaw in your logic.  Cutting 3 of our best players will somehow move us from whatever we are to "compete". Even the most Young super fans are not predicting a ceiling above top 10-12, and that will not nearly cut it.  Someone will need to break the log jam of QBs getting nothing or North of 50. Our qb is at best a middle ground, lets hope it will be us that also manage to pay the worth at about 100 over 3 years.  And before you jump me, yes that is only of he improves.
