If We Are Trading Down, Which Team Can We Deal With?

Yesterday, I proposed a trade-up for Justin Blackmon with Stewart as bait.

Today, let's discuss the possibility of trading down with another team and keeping Stewart.

If we do this, I would LOVE to pick up Michael Brockers from LSU.

He is young (twenty years old) ,naturally big (6'5",320+ lbs), stout against the run, and he has plenty of game tape to prove that he is worthy of the pick.

Philly needs a LT, and they are at 15 pick with 2 -2nd round picks. I can see a the following trade happen.

Philly gets our 1st round pick (9th pick) and we get their 1st round pick (15th pick) and their 2nd -2nd round pick(51st pick).

This can be our selections with the offense picking up a weapon.

1ST: TRADE DOWN DT BROCKERS (LSU)

2ND: ORIG. PICK CB ROBINSON (UCF)

2ND: EXTRA PICK OLB DAVID (NEB)

4TH: ORIG. PICK WO McNUTT (IOWA)

people need to realize that a team will only trade up for a pick if they think a team in front of them will grab their player. if the eagles don't consider us likely to draft an offensive lineman, they won't just trade up with us.

C'mon guys! The trade up one was kinda dumb, but this scenario is very plausible at least. I for one would love an extra 2nd and in this draft, 15 would still yield an impact player, especially since some of the people we've been bringing in are not regarded as top ten picks. I'd be happier with Brockers at 15 with an extra pick than just taking him at 9.

Zod said that the new layout was to deal with the new fans we'll be getting on our board. Instead of being jerks to all newcomers let's welcome them in. With Cam now on our team, our fanbase will undoubtedly grow, and we should embrace the change.

I could see the Eagles trading up from 15 to 9 to get Reiff. They need an OT, especially for the kind of game VIck plays. That would be an awesome scenerio for us. We wouldn't fall back too far and would probally pick up an extra 2nd rounder or 3rd round pick.

    • He should've been more than a JAG, but Jeremy Chinn.  I was convinced he was our next defensive star
    • I see what you did there
    • Yeah the only way current set up is fun is if every year a different tiny school builds a super team and makes a run. You just need 1 rich guy to say you know what would be funny, if I drop 30 million and my school has a shot at a national championship.   They won't ever do it but put some sort of tiered salary cap in place and sign them to 4 year deals. You can only transfer up or down tiers no lateral moves because mean ole coach at texas doesn't play me enough so I'm going to Tennessee. So a player at prairie view can transfer to texas and get paid more or a player from UNC can transfer to UNCG because he isn't getting playing time. If a guy is transferring "up" he can get a salary bump if the team has salary cap space. A guy transferring down has to stay at the same salary as he signed his 4 year deal for so the lower tier team would have to have the cap space to sign him. It would stop the money chasing for lateral moves but allow guys who improve massively at lower schools to make more money as juniors and seniors and hopefully keep more guys in one place because the contract is for 4 years.
