Is Stewart Worth A 2Nd Round Pick?

This may have been posted. ....I know it has been debated According to Elva Silva He believes he will be traded for a 2nd round pick.

"Carolina's combined $52 million investments in DeAngelo Williams and Mike Tolbert don't make Stewart the odd man out, per se, but they certainly raise the question of whether Stewart will be a Panther beyond 2013. (He may not make it that long.) Stewart's rookie contract is up after this season, and Carolina isn't going to be able to keep paying all three backs. With Stewart coming off an impressive year (career-high 5.36 YPC, 47 catches) it's time to strike while the iron is hot.

Though he's in a contract season, an acquiring team won't have to commit top dollar to Stewart because it can slap him with the franchise tag in 2013. Based on 2012 tender numbers, a team could get Stewart's age-25 and 26 seasons for what essentially amounts to a two-year, $9.053 million commitment. As a premium talent, Stewart is well worth that money in a keep-and-tag scenario."

It depends who you ask. Taken objectively probably if he's to be a primary back and not split the backfield.

Are we likely to get a 2nd for him if we were to try to move him? No. The prevalence of the split backfield and the rise of the passing league pretty much dictate that we won't.

I love Dwill but even Dwill might agree Stewart is the better back and we need Stewart here dude is a fuging beast...I have came to terms that Stewie might leave us and it upsets me but I will live. I believe we should let Stewie play this season and franchise him next year if we cant get a long term deal done.

Well Fox would know what he is getting coupled with they want the super bowl now.I could see a Denver trade happening.

If this happened (and I stress if because I'm not in the camp that believes we will move Stewart this season) I wouldn't expect more than a 3rd.

Whatever happened to Denver being the 1000-yard rusher factory? Since when do they value RBs so highly?

they have a whole new coaching staff and whole new front office so it's a different factory than it used to be

After zone blocking left.

That said, no Stew is not worth a 2nd to anyone at the moment. During training camp when a no. 1 back goes down on a "contender" then yes, he may very well be.

We should have kicked DWill to the curb last season, and extended Stew this season.....we are so dumb....fo real.

    • I think the qualification has changed over time though. A deep ball play used to take 4 to 6 seconds for the receiver to get to that spot on the field. Now a receiver can be there in 2.5. That's less time than most QBs have to set and throw. In my mind a deep route takes time to develop. A crossing route and a deep route can't take the same amount of time at full speed. You can have 4 deep balls on the same drive,  almost 5 if you do 5 20 yard throws goal line to goal line. That doesn't even make sense when you say it out loud.
    • The sad part is it looks manicured enough that he's aware it's running away from him.  Also, I just wanted to give you some fun loving grief on King Haynes today having a chance to throw a game winning TD, and was wildly errant, and ultimately picked off to end the game.  So happy I won't have to hear anything else about The Golden Calf of Bristol lite ever again watching college football.
    • I just think Panthers believe in Bryce far more than the fans do and he is most likely going to be the QB at least the next two seasons. the real shot of us moving from Bryce is not getting an extension, till then they are going to give him every chance to succeed and I just want to win.
