Coming Down To Coples Or Kuechly

It appears its gonna be between these two for our 9th pick imo.

My only concern is if we take Kuechly, where is our pass rush gonna come from in this draft?

Im pretty sure its a lock we take a CB in the second (Hosley).

I dont see any good pass rushers available past the first round.

Im more leaning to Coples because I feel he can be a beast of a DE and provide a solid pass rush pared with Johnson.

HAHA! Were not taking Hosely in the 2nd. If you think we are you sure are going to be disappointed. Kid is a twig who is only 5'11 or maybe shorter. Just another nickelback. Nice try though.

He is a twig. Knocking him for being 5'11 is ridiculous though. You should know better.

Rivera likes to get pass rush from his linebackers. Just because Kuechly wasn't asked to rush in college doesn't mean he's incapable. He definitely has the speed and athleticism to take on the challenge.

I don't think the draft comes down to your opinion, in my opinion.

This must be thread 897 where everyone says who they want to draft, again all over and over again

I see no way we are drafting a DT with the 9th with this years group. There is no Suh,

We will get more immediate value and contributions from an elite DE or LB. Not to mention we need to let our young DT's develop.

btw Coples can play DT on passing downs

    • The defense is 28 out of 32 in salary cap allocation for 2025. We have a ton of resources tied up in the offense including the highest paid OL in the league multiple 1st round WR's and multiple recent draft picks across the offense at TE and RB and we have two 1000 yard backs. Bryce and company couldn't get past Tyler Shough and his crew in 2 games. That's all there is to it. You can spin it and put the entire onus on the defense to your heart's desire it doesn't change the fact that this is an OFFENSIVE team now. If you want to argue that we should revert back to a defensive identity as we have been in the past which has brought us success then I will agree with you on that. But as it stands the onus is on the offense because that is where we have invested through the nose. Dave Canales and Bryce Young need to do a hell of a lot better than they have against the rebuilding Saints who without us should only have 2 wins this season.
    • Bryce is not trending up. He is the same QB he has always been. Bottom of the league in most categories.  If Canales thinks he can build a contender with Bryce then he is a bigger idiot then I thought.  Offense next year will have the same issues and be just as inconsistent as it was this year.  We have seen Bryce’a ceiling and it is 175 yards a game and that is not a QB you keep around as your starter. That is barely a backup.
    • Looks like Darnold should have had at least 3 picks. That'll get ugly in the playoffs eventually. Can't deny his physical talent though. You either have that or you don't. Mike Macdonald is a legit coach.
