Jon Beason Says Poe Would "shore Up Position"

The Panthers do not have a poe like dt. They have a bunch of smaller tackles.

Of course beason wants poe. Beason knows what kind impact poe wil have on the rest of the defense.

Edwards is like Poe. He was a 3-4 NT. He eats blocks & holds the line.

Beason didn't play with these guys at all... who are quite similar to Poe.

  • Frank Kearse
  • Height: 6-3
  • Weight: 325

  • Jason Shirley
  • Height: 6-5
  • Weight: 345

He may be jumping the gun. He could also still be amazed by Poe's combine. I'm in the train of thought we need more of a guy like Cox, who's versatile. He reminds me a bit of Suh, a poor mans Suh, but Suh nonetheless.

I really don't want to depend on Shirley or Kearse.

Shirley had 2.5 sacks in 4 games.

I believe he had a sack-fumble against Washington as well?

I think in the end improved CB play will improve DL play and vice versa. Our FA just needs someone to improve one facet of our defense which will complement the other improving the defense overall.

I guess that says a lot about our DT's eh?

Beason knows the D stinks. He pretty much has to point at D......and you know he isn't going to point a finger at his LB crew.

Ask a vet like Ron Edwards what he thinks....he will probably say CB. Gamble probably would say DE. Guys rarely talk about bringing in a new body to take a job from there positional friends

Doesn't work that way. It's a one-way street. Improved DL play will help the CBs, but the reverse isn't true. Yeah, there may be a once a game coverage sack, but that wouldn't be the same thing. If your CBs can cover for 10 seconds but your DL can't get penetration or stop the run, the other team is just gonna either dink and dunk you to death or run it down your throat. Then the pressure is on the CBs to help with the underneath passes or stop the run and suddenly they are getting burned because the front 7 can't stop anyone.

The fact that the Giants lost all their CB at times in the season and still was missing a lot of them in the playoffs but as soon as that Dline got healthy they became a force and won the superbowl. Kind of goes against your post.

As is anybody in this draft NFL production so what's your point?

The diiference is Shirley played his way off a team Cox hasn't yet.

Playing one's way off a team can be due to a whole range of factors. Ability or effort doesn't necessarily have to be included.
