Why The Panthers Won't Take Blackmon If He's Available At #9.

Cam didn't have any concerns with alcohol. And why I make this comparison is that the Panthers have been burned by a successful college WR that had a party boy mentality before, and likely won't pick him for that reason among others.

We also have been burned by WRs that didn't have a DUI on there resume. Your off base comparisons of Blackmon to Jarrett are pretty lame.

Fact: no one in the history of people has ever learned from their mistakes.

That's laughable on so many levels.

You said "off-field problems" and while people may argue about the severity or the meaning of those, you can't deny Newton had 'em on his record.

Worth noting that the Panthers do a lot of things differently since Ron Rivera became the head coach.

That's true, Ron Rivera has brought some significant changes to how the Panthers have handled things. But the man calling the shots on draft day is still the same. If Blackmon is available at #9 and the Panthers choose him I would be surprised and would eat crow. But I think the Panthers will pass on him - just my opinion.

Maybe. I'm not so sure.

Hurney does indeed call the shots, but I think Fox (at least before the end) had some fairly significant input on that topic, and I've little doubt that Rivera does too. So while Marty makes the final call, I definitely believe he listens to a lot of people (Don Gregory, Ron Rivera, etc) prior to making it and adjusts accordingly.

Did you just find out that he had DUI? I don't know why people bring this up now all this has been factored in when evaluating players. Not condoning drinking and driving but that is something that we shouldn't be worried about with Blackmon. I don't see this as a risk for Blackmon.

If he's there at #9, he's a Panther.

I am not so sure....and here is why.

1. The experts are saying that this is the deepest draft in decades at the WR position.

2. Some experts are saying that many teams question whether Blackmon is really a stud #1 receiver.

Given these two facts, i could see his slipping as teams believe they can get very good WR's in the 2-4th rounds.
