Terrell Mcclain And Fua Versus Dt In This Years Draft

Recommended Posts

Is there a hugh improvement between our two DT drafted last year and Fletcher Cox, Michael Brocker, Dontari Poe, etc.? I would assume McClain and Fua has been hitting the weights with one season of experience under them. Most DT struggle in their first year and what make Cox, Brocker, Poe, Worthy, Still, and Reyes instant starters before McClain and Fau.

Was your last sentence a question? Or a statement?

Fletcher Cox is considerably on a higher level than McClain and Fua. His skill set is just high. McClain and Fua were never rated that high to begin with. Cox may struggle but not as much as Fua and McClain did in their first year for the simple fact that he's just better, more complete, at another level than the DT's we took last year.

Josh Chapman

Brandon Thompson

Michael Brockers

Derek Wolfe

Fletcher Cox

Dontari Poe

Kendall Reyes

Devon Still

Jared Crick

Jerel Worthy

Alameda Ta'Amu

All, talent wise, are definitely better.

Not a knock on McClain or Fua. Well, it kind of is. But I'm a big fan of a lot of the DTs in the draft. I think if we decide not to go DT in the first, we should still have some great options in the second like Thompson, Worthy, Wolfe, or Chapman.

You guys did not read his question. He asked would Cox or any of the other DT's be better AS A ROOKIE than McClain and Fua AS A SOPHOMORE NFL player. It is a short-sighted question, but at least know what he asked rather than thinking the OP just asked is a Top-10 DT = Round 3 and Round 4 DT.

Cox would also have an offseason, wouldn't be playing beside a rookie, and everyone on the F wouldn't be in a new system.

I mean if McClain or Fua came in under that criteria they would have been better as well.

But Cox is better....Still, Worthy, and Thompson. Poe is probably on the same level coming in as they were. Better skill set but not a better DT coming.

Comparing rookie to our sophomores....probably a push. If the rookies are better it probably won't be by much.

Well how would Cox compare to Darius as a rookie?

Cox is a better Prospect then Dareus was last year.

Cox played in the same conference. Had better numbers then Marcell coming out of college. Was a starter longer then Marcell. Cox had a better showing at the combine. He's faster and Just as strong as Dareus.

    • fuging Christ dude this isnt hard.  Like at all.  I get you simping for this poo team is your thing but sometimes you have to look at reality.   Even removing his bum knee from the equation, none of this made sense.  He is 31.  He has been paid handsomely for his service here.  He was currently under contract for this season.  Why in the holy fug did anything have to be done 2 weeks before the season started.   The people for this move, in this thread are saying A) He deserved it (this is the nfl it doesnt work like that  B) It frees up cap space (then why in the fug didnt we do this in Feb or C) You logic (We are getting a deal at 53 million guaranteed for the next 3 years.   You realize with this deal we cannot cut or trade his ass for 3 years.  You understand this right?   So in my opinion we should have let this ride into the offseason and go from there, what he is going to threaten to walk, big fuging deal he would be 32 on a chronically bad knee, what other moronic franchise is going to give him 40 million up front?  It wasnt going to happen.   And you are acting like its impossible to replace a 32 year old RT with a bum knee.  Just go and draft someone, move Icky to RT.  There are tons of options instead of extending this dude 2 weeks before the fuging season.  The truth is Morgan and the shitheads in the FO fell for this dudes crying act and got all sentimental and shelled out another ext.  We are a poverty ass franchise that doesnt act professionally
    • Amazing what the prospect of being traded to Carolina will do for contract negotiations.
    • 5 Im glad football is back but after the embarrassment that was the browns pre season game where our starting D made Sanders look like a serviceable NFL QB, I lost hope again for a successful Panthers campaign this year.  I do hope I’m wrong!
